Another great point. Best TE a converted DE but AR will be blamed for not throwing to the TE. Not important to consider Napier doesn’t throw much to TE’s, we had no weapons at TE, etc.

I love Trask but would you say the offense was totally different in a good way and the offensive threats quite a bit better? I think those answers are easy.

I’ve said this many times before. Love Trask but played in an awesome offense and had major threats at his disposal.

Great receivers and no running game. Those receivers weren’t too great when Franks was back there either. Trask was flat out good. That’s all there is too it.

    Very good
But let’s be real, would you compare Mullen’s offense to Napier’s?
I’m a Billy fan. Went and saw him speak. Drive hours to games. But I’m also objective enough to admit Billy’s offense is not near Mullen’s. Doesn’t mean Billy won’t be the better Coach ( he’s not yet).

Mullen’s offense never looked like that before or after.

We haven’t seen him have the talent. When he gets aTrask, Pitts , and Toney and can’t average 30 + points, then I’ll judge.

Brady just retired and Trask has not played enough to be definitively named the starter - yet. Bet he will be on opening day and IMO he is head and shoulders above AR in the passing department. That being said, I am pulling for AR to grow into an elite NFL QB.

Mullen coached Franks who basically floundered, Trask excelled. Same coach, same offense only difference was Trask.

Apparently, the NFL is enamored with AR's freakish skills and potential. The sad part for AR is they are building him up so much, what will happen when or if he doesn't measure up to such high expectations? How well will he be able to read NFL defenses, blitz packages, incompletions, interceptions, boos? Will a 50 something percent passer suddenly become a superstar? Truthfully, most first year qb's flounder, time will only tell how AR processes it all.
I do hope he succeeds but it won't be easy.

Unfortunately for sentimental people like you, the QB position has completely evolved in the NFL as it has in college. Trask is a dinosaur in the NFL. 6 of the top passing QBs made the playoffs in the NFL last year. 8 of the top rushing QBs made the playoffs in the NFL last year.

Richardson is a much better rusher than Trask is a passer as it relates to value to a team. And clearly being a better rusher is more important in getting to the playoffs than passing is. Sorry to disappoint you.

Richardson has a better arm which can be trained to be more accurate. Can you train Trask to be a better rusher?????? I DON'T THINK SO.

I wish them both well, but a team that does not have a QB who can get them 10 yards that are needed for a first down at least two to three times a game on average, is a team that probably will not make the playoffs.

The fact is there is more to being a great WR than YAC. You have to be a great route runner. You have to have great timing. You have to have great hands. You have to have a front line that gives the QB time to throw the ball.

Richardson was not just sitting in the pocket waiting for average receivers to break free. The only thing that bought Richardson time was his mobility and the fact that defensive players had to shadow him to contain his running ability which incidentally was the best in college football. Trask was not the best passer in college football. Richardson was the most feared rushing QB in college football.

I am not diminishing Trask at all. Trask was a world beater and instilled fear in secondaries. But a lot of that was attributable to his personnel. He had two first-round receivers chosen (both before him- what does that tell you). Richardson had one receiver chosen late in the draft.

It's funny how you are assigning the lack of comparability of college to the pros as it relates to Trask when that is all we are saying about Richardson.

You will have to concede that it is a lot easier to teach accuracy than it is to teach mobility. 8 of the top rushing QBs in the NFL made the playoffs last year. 6 of the top passing QBs in the NFL made the playoffs last year. There were several that were in both categories. Very RARELY is a top rushing QB in college unable to achieve similar results in the NFL.

Your claims of disassociation of results in college and pros are more commonly seen in passing efficiency. And then it is usually a QB who has enormous QB passing efficiency in college but dismal results in the pros.

The truth is there is no comparison between Richardson's arm and Trask's arm. And as college players, there was no comparison between Trask's accuracy and Richardson's accuracy. Trask had basically two years to showcase his talents. Richardson had one. In one year, Richardson outperformed Trask in the two years he had as far as rushing statistics are concerned.

If Trask was such a sure-shot pinpoint passer, there would be no question who would be starting for Tampa this upcoming season. They would not have gotten Mayfield if there were 100% sure that Trask was their guy. Mayfield (consistent with the trend) provides them with way more mobility. He has about the same arm strength but lags behind Trask in accuracy.

I wish them both (Trask and Richardson) enormous success.

Tebow had great passing efficiency ratings in college with at least 5 receivers that got drafted and played in the pros (Harvin, Cooper, Murphy, Hernandez, and Nelson). And he had great receivers out of the backfield one who also got drafted (Rainey) and one who was picked up (Demps).

Rushing takes a back seat to passing all day every day. Throwing wins games.
