Florida football WR Eugene Wilson III making progress, could return for UCF game

I can’t get use to not needing him against ucf. We normally sit a guy against the chumps till the real game.

 

Well, someone on board was suggesting that he should redshirt before his pending transfer, so I guess this is encouraging.

 

How many games has he played since becoming a Gator, eight? He hasn't earned Andre DeBose legendary yet.

 

He will go pro when eligible so a shirt is probably meaningless unless he’s has more injuries.

 

No point in rushing him back

 

Need him and Mizell on the field at the same time.

 

I still think he should. He already has shown he is a talent. Rest up the rest of this year, play one solid season next year and go pro.

 

That’s not really taking a rs, that’s just opting out.

 

If we need to rush someone back against UCF ……..

 

Then that means we are what our record says we are.

 

Why play next year? Just sit until you’re eligible.

 

He still needs to show he can make it through an entire season as well as put up good numbers.

 

He’s being paid to play this year and if he’s healthy, he needs to play. Do his job.

 

He is also legally allowed by NCAA guidelines to take a red shirt. That trumps his NIL.

 

How so?

 

Think he's a talented player capable of some big plays but this offense doesn't seem to fit him. Maybe it's something to do with the system.

Every player is granted 5 yrs to play 4. One of those years is a red shirt year. He hasn't played 4 games yet this year so after his fourth he can tell the coach he is done and taking his redshirt. It definitely doesn't put you in a good position with the coach but he really can't do much about it. If the player is in good standing with the university he can't have his scholarship taken away. Also there is the high probability that Napier is gone so the new coach will overlook it because of his talent. That is if he doesn't portal out.

It is not limited to your freshman year. As an example the guys from UNLV and USC this year. I believe the USC players are planning on staying at USC. Each felt they weren't getting enough playing time so they just want to practice and get better for next year. Also remember the QB from Houston who took his redshirt his senior yr than transferred to Miami.
