Did you mean to say that? I am definitely a republican and almost voted for her because I didn't like Davis, so I'm not even unhappy with the result. Hope she governs down the middle because the city is far from liberal and doubt it changes.

Keep in mind that Democrat mayors account for 76% of all major cities in the US. Yet, these blue mayors reside over some of the worst crime in the country. Blue or red, mayors are just figure heads with little to no power. Just ask Birmingham that, where every mayor except for one has been a democrat, with every mayor since 1979 both black and democrat, yet many of them left their position in worse shape than when they got there. So far Woodfin has done a remarkable job but the city continues to decline. There was a time when Birmingham was the 3rd largest city in the South and led the world in steel manufacturing (Birmingham is the only location in the world where all materials to make steel are local).

Yes, I meant to say it. You are probably taking what I said out of context. I wasn’t saying that the result wasn’t about the individuals, I was saying that the use of the term upset was applied to the parties as opposed to the individuals. It was an upset because the Democrats were the underdogs.

They were not. She led the whole way in most polls.

I’ll say it one last time… the upset was not about the individuals, it was about the parties. I’ve already said it five times. What is so hard to understand.

Your argument is lame. Jax had a black mayor as recently as 2011 when Jax was even more Republican. In is not unusual for spasmodic voters to lash out one way or another when frightened.

You may characterize my argument however you wish. I disagree, but that is ok. But that wasn’t the problem, was it? The problem was that you were talking about something different than I was.
