As I am familiar with Gator myths of the past, I had to check out how many times Grantham's defense gave up first downs on 15 or more yards, and discovered he gave up seven such first downs plus three TDs in 3.5 years. Looking at Georgia and Alabama over a similar period of time, they gave up five such first downs, along with two TDs for Georgia and 1 TD for Alabama.

As with other legends (Zaunbrecher threw a dozen bubble screens a day, when in fact, he averaged only three per game), and Chris Leak always sliding short of a first down (he did it twice in a four year career, once as a true freshman), the perceptions that become legend bear little resemblance to reality. It just SEEMED like every 3d and long against Grantham's defense was converted.

I know your first sentence is amusing hyperbole, but he never gave up a first down on 3d and 23 while at Florida. Some Gators actually think he did...

I know the secondary is getting a lot of the blame here but let’s also remember Jayden Daniels had enough time to make a sandwich back there. He had at least 5 to 7 seconds each time. All starts up front, you don’t put any pressure on the QB he’ll pick you apart.

Our linebackers better be practicing hard to keep him in the pocket. I’m not sure they’re capable with any amount of practice or coaching.

That is what I intended it to be, I say things that amuse me in hopes that it might amuse someone else. I like to make people smile if possible.

Guys and gals, can we get some sort of clarity about "the bigger picture" and what transpired Saturday evening? Let's just acknowledge that we are missing some MAJOR pieces in the defense, for various reasons. All this is is picking at the scab. BUT...

IF Napier implicitly KNOWS this and he wants to win a game to counter the major brain fart known as Arkansas, then why was the play calling sort of "conventional" on offense until it was pretty much over? Where is the desperation and "bold" ideas to try to keep up? I posted why hasn't Brown been more prepared to be a Plan B alternative to run RPOs and obvious QB runs? Or I could say, why is Napier being scared to be bold? We could not do enough against two defenses that are pretty bad. WHY???
