Triggered much?! This whole idea UF is terrible for academics was made up by people who do not like DeSantis. The law is not going to hurt UF. But a few people have you believing it will...
It's about freedom... of our Florida parents to make the right educational decisions for their children. Not the teachers and school boards dictating to the parents and students. That's the freedom we have over other states.
Not concerned at all. Objectively. This is overblown by a few people who feel threatened. The law is common sense. We are not the only state working to do these things. Florida is going to be fine. In fact better now imo.
no, the idea that academic freedom would be overruled by a political narrative mandated by the executive branch is what will hurt the entire educational system of Florida, not just UF. Forcing UF to hire an unqualified individual that parrots toe governors views on covid, independent of all scientific evidence to the contrary, so that the governor can instill him as his state surgeon general will hurt UF. not triggered, just disappointed that every response has to be a personal attack if opinions differ. Your response "triggered much" follows that same principle, even if you fail to recognize it. until we can get back to being able to respectfully disagree without making it personal, we will continue to splinter in ways our enemies dream of. the fact that so many fail to recognize this is beyond my understanding
elite professors that secure national funding and lead cutting edge research do not relocate on short notice. if there is an impact, it will take more than 1 year to fully manifest itself. nobody wants that to happen but many national collegiate publications do expect it to happen if the current trendlines remain in place.
The other thread has the university rankings touting how UF is #5 (tied). Two of the four schools ahead of UF are in California, Berkley and UCLA. They also have 27 schools in the top 250 with FL having 11. Even adjusted for population California is much richer in schools. The California University system is widely regarded as the best in the US and by therefore the best in the world.
Again... look at the quality level of other educational "freedom" loving states. That's not a coincidence. Professionals educate. Parents indoctrinate. Not the other way around.
We hired someone who actually followed the science on Covid. Dr. Ladapo is going to be a huge asset for UF going forward. Thank goodness our leaders are not focused on the propaganda that has so many blinded on Covid. And spare me the "personal attack". I am not personally attacking anyone. You are trying to shut me down with that weak pathetic tactic. While a few will cheer you on. It speaks volumes to the weakness of your argument.
So the goal for most states should be to develop an educational system more like Mississippi, Louisiana, or West Virginia, all Top 10 states in this metric?
UF is just as attractive to elite professors as it always has been. I guess if you are an elite professor in the sector of woke sociology...you might be caught up in the propaganda that UF is terrible. But this law is not going to affect UF like you believe it will.
Yep. It’s more than just the prof. For big time researchers It’s funding, contracts, labs, assistants, grad students, and a trailing spouse that the new Uni needs to find a job for.
