FL Gov candidate Charlie Crist's top staffer left campaign citing a 'family matter.' He was actually arrested (msn.com)

Austin Durrer, who has worked for Crist since 2016, was arrested Tuesday in Cambridge, Maryland, on second-degree assault charges in a case classified as "domestic violence," according to Dorchester County court records obtained by Fox News Digital. Durrer was released on $10,000 bond after his arrest, and the court ordered him to surrender firearms and vacate his home.

Durrer's trial is slated for Dec. 7. Based on the charges in the case, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment.

On Thursday, the Crist campaign abruptly announced that Durrer would depart the campaign mere weeks before the election to deal with a family issue that had arisen. The announcement didn't mention Durrer's apparent domestic violence arrest.

Meanwhile, Crist's campaign has failed to gain traction, with less than three weeks until the election. Most polls have shown DeSantis with a substantial lead, and the Cook Political Report has rated the race as "likely R."

Fake news. It's a conspiracy by DeSantis to make Crist look bad. He's innocent until proven guilty. What about Donald Trump? :emoji_joy:

Crist is a chameleon, a fraud and an empty suit who believes in nothing. He perfectly encapsulates the state of the Democratic establishment in this country.

I'm glad the Crist campaign was willing to cut him loose rather than keep him in place.

I don't disagree on the former point. Thing is, I'd still take that over the Viktor Orban knockoff we currently have in Tallahassee. Crist was fine as a Republican governor. He won't make the messes DeSantis does or sow discord to boost his chances of winning the presidency in 2024.

I have to chuckle at the second sentence. It is completely at odds with what Republicans accuse Democrats of being in basically every other case. It's also completely at odds with the stances the party has taken.

This helps explain how Crist has run what I think is the single worst campaign in the history of Florida. I have never seen a more feckless campaign. It’s almost like the guy wants to lose.

He’s liberal, conservative, democrat, and Republican all wrapped up into one dude. Whatever will get him elected.

It’s remarkably bad. I’d say historically bad, but the only campaign I’ve seen more absurd was Biden in the basement, and he won. Lol. So maybe this is just the new strategy

You're the only one calling for a wife beating. I repeat, WTH? Surely you aren't calling for spousal abuse.

The Crist campaign said he left for a "family matter".
It turns out the guy was arrested for assault.......it was classified as "domestic violence".
Family matter---Domestic violence? Sounds like somebody felt like his wife needed beating. If you take everything so seriously that you don't get the joke that is your problem.
