I hear you. It's not like I crawled into bed and moped after the game. Just left a very bad taste in my mouth. I want to proudly root for a clean, disciplined, successful program. We almost got back there under Mullen. Just imagine if we'd beaten Bama in '21 how different things might have been from then onward...

    I don't disagree. We should've had a TD there.

I totally agree that the trick play was unbelievably dumb and directly contributed to losing the game. But Lyons' idiotic gaff was perhaps the first of several "Oh hell, we just can't stand prosperity moments" in a game that was going our way up to that point. IMO, he absolutely hurt our momentum and damaged our chances to win with that mind-numbingly immature stunt. But quibbling over who was the biggest knucklehead in O&B Saturday night is pointless. There's plenty of blame to spread around without withholding any from the deserving.

I'm more embarrassed by the fact we had two murderers on one of our national championship teams. Plus, all the other run-ins with the law.

Or when we had that credit card scandal.

Or the loss to Georgia Southern, in which their QB didn't complete a pass and two of our offensive linemen blocked each other.

Or losing a game by throwing a shoe.

Or putting a crocodile on the cover of the media guide.

Or the entire McElwain era, in which he shamelessly sold his crappy BBQ sauce in BHG, berated a player on national TV, put up SEC East Champion signs in the Swamp, made false accusations of death threats, et al., and in which players were lifting weights elsewhere because the S&C program was inadequate.

Or the fact that we have paid tens of millions of dollars to Muschamp, McElwain, and Mullen to not coach.

Yes, players are their own personalities, but Here's the bottom line: The coach is responsible for the outcome on the field.
Discipline, organization and game awareness can be taught and enforced.
Spitting, late hits, the circus before the field goal in Mizzou, the running out of bounds by Etienne, double numbers on the field (I'm sure I'm missing a few things).....all those were critical moments that changed the game...and all those things could have been prevented with more teaching and coaching. It just happens way too often.

All of the things you mentioned point to a very undisciplined team, and that's all on coaching. Occasional brain farts happen, but our issues aren't just occasionally. Unfortunately, they are a common theme.

Exactly. And I've lost confidence that it gets any better next year, or the year after that, or after that absent major coaching changes.

I am not making any excuses for the players who made some bad choices and or just were not think when they reacted.

However, you have to consider some of the factors the players were dealing with:
    1. The season had to be very frustrating for them.
    2. Either they were at fault for screwing up plays or a teammate(s) screwed up plays,
    3. The pressure of the last four games of the season. Some of the players were probably close to a breaking point.
Again, this does not excuse their actions. They need to be head accountable not just by the coaches, but also the team. This accountability process makes for a better team in two ways.
    1. It will get many players and coaches on the same page.
    2. It gets some coaches and players out of the way, so that their replacements can come in.
I am sure that Napier does have a challenging coaching task this week and for the rest of this year. I pray that all goes well for him, the coaches, the players.

I understand the point you are making. However, that's the same kind of defense you hear for when a man beats up a woman, "She wouldn't shut up!" to justify their actions. Frustrating or not, you can't behave that way, anytime, anywhere. It's unacceptable behavior. Lyons would've been in a fistfight had what he did occurred off of the football field. I'm nowhere close to his size, and also much older, but I would've punched him so hard and often that he'd never forget it.

LOL.....after your fist bounced off him he would pull you apart piece by piece. If you socked a guy with that size and strength you better be able to run awfully damn fast... Now if you aimed below the belt youd buy about 3 minutes until he recovered and was mad as a hornet...in which case you better have a real head start.

Nobody pays to see two punch fight... I remember how Tyson never gave you your moneys worth on PPV...usually over in 45 seconds.

You are making a very valid statement on my comment.
I know that you really get the intention/meaning of my statement.

Some people at times are too distracted or read to fast and they will resort to your argument of men accused of wife abuse (you are not one of those people).

That is why I stressed the point where the coaches and the team have to hold their team mates accountable for the errors and the inexcusable behavior/actions. That accountability can take several forms; acts of atonement, probation, extra laps or duties, suspension, and being discharged from the team.

This football team is no different from any other football team. Every team goes through a process of self evaluation that produces changes. Those changes can be counselling, extra coaching, change of positions, and even being discharged from the team.

Lol That's my point and haven't had another game since so we can't say CBN tolerates it or doesn't care, he wasn't given the opportunity to show punishment in regards to gametime etc. Mizzccua didn't get ejected because the game had ended but he got suspended for the 1st half of the next game for the scuffle protectin the QB, a much less egregious offense and CBN made him sit the whole game. So from his previous actions I'm sure Lyons would have been in some trouble.

I get it, there are a lot of embarrassing moments, but I can't blame Georgia Southern on CBN, all the others happened on his watch.

That bolded one was one of mine as well until I watched the Missou Arky game last weekend. Missou started another fight with them so I'm thinking it's a Missou thing and their coach is not as squeaky clean as some would like to think. In that frame of reference, his interviews come off as kind of a dick.
