With the team's first practice today came the team's first interviews. I can't remember the last time we were this deep across the board, in the backcourt and frontcourt...and how much experience we're returning. I love that we're focusing on the defensive end while still trying to stay top 15 on offense.

Hopefully we build off last year's success. On paper, this team has the potential to be a 30-win team. Let's see. Watching these interviews it feels more like watching a young pro team than a college team, which I guess under the new NIL era is technically the case. They seem very mature, very focused.

41 days and counting until our first game. Can't come fast enough.

In one of the clips from the 1st practice, you can see Rueben Chinyelu executing a textbook blockout on Viktor Mikic. Having heard so much about Rueben's raw athleticism, strength, and aggressiveness, I wasn't expecting to see that. I thought he'd just be going hard after the ball. This is a great sign that he also understands and values the techniques of winning basketball.
As for Mikic, in another clip, I was happy to see that he's also pretty quick on his feet for a guy that size. I don't expect him to be in the regular rotation this year but he has a future at this level.

Yes both good signs. By everyone’s account Reuben is going to be a serious force on both ends of the court this year, as long as he can stay out of foul trouble. I love that coach had them run every time someone made a silly foul in practice. Hope that translates to more discipline in games
