I was bouncing (channel surfing) between TCU crushing Arkansas in the winner take all game in their regional and flipping back to the SEC Network - Finebaum... looking for more baseball news, and one caller asked him why aren't there more college baseball games on TV.

Finebaum said, thought his a PR person (SEC Network) that the NCAA is has limits on how many college baseball games can be televised, put on TV, in one year.

Can someone here tell me why the NCAA is putting limits on college baseball?

What do you all think about that?

Actually it doesn’t change anything about my views of the NCAA—they already are sitting just below chicken ch!t….

I totally understand, because that's how I feel about that organization too.

But just when I thought the NCAA couldn't get any crappier I find this little gem out.

Why why hail are they putting limits on games that can be shown on television? That has to be something the SEC/Sankey should looking into right now. Yes, I know he's not exactly working to better that aspect/sport in our conference.

Football is king, but we need to be able to make any sports TV deals... unfettered from the NCAA's anti-competitive rules.

Doesn't the SEC also have limits so one doesn't get on TV all the time and all teams get the same chance on the network. Kind of like limiting the number of times Kentucky basketball gets shown.

It’s that age old problem of mixing power (even in their own minds) and greed (to control the money) IMHO.

I wouldn't take Finebaum as a source of anything factual.

He read off a statement WRITTEN by the PR department from the SEC Network offices... NOT AN OPINION by Finebaum.

I should have been more clear in my OP, that this was a statement by the SEC office PR people, and NOT one of Finebaum's silly opinions.

But I do agree that his opinions are usually garbage homer-ism crap.

Who knows. I know that the NCAA has NO bearing on our football TV network contracts with, nor controls on how many football games are televised throughout the year, so this baseball rule looks kind of suspect to me. I wonder if the TV networks are really behind this "rule" by the NCAA? The last thing the TV networks want to do is payout more money to a sport that is somewhat regional in popularity. With low viewership for most of the year... till the playoffs.

That seems odd to me. Limits on Baseball TV but no such limits on football. They're both college spots and limiting one seems fishy to me, even if baseball is not that popular. The NCAA should NOT have the right to limit games/revenue at all.

Find the rule and post it.

You do know who the NCAA is, right?

If you're refuting what I posted then you find the rule.

The NCAA has been sued off their butts for trying to limit how many times games were shown on TV so I really wonder if this is true, someone could have given Finebaum false information.

Also what counts as on TV? Cable networks? streaming? OTA? this year all but 2 UF games were able to be seen, here's the break down for the regular season.

    40 Games on SEC+
    1 on ESPN+
    8 on the SEC network
    2 on the ACC Network
    2 on ESPN U
    1 on ESPN 2
    2 not on video anywhere.

You started a thread about a rule and it seems you want to discuss it. Lets see the rule. I’m not doing your homework for you. I’m not refuting anything, but I’d like to see what we’re talking about. Quick google search turns up nothing.

Ive yet to not be able to watch a game I wanted to last 5 years, w/ exception of the couple early non confs that no video is produced.

I assume he means 'regular tv',, but whats the diffrence now?? Actually prefer the app games b/c usually better PBP guys etc.

Guessing paul has seen about 4 innings of baseball last 10 years...lol
