It has been a long slog to get nominations out for open Florida seats. A lot happening behind the scenes. Also, Julie Sneed appointed to a Middle District vacancy. That made the paper.

Breaking— White House to nominate 3 today for open seats

I have it on good authority that President Biden will nominate Jackie Becerra, Melissa Damian, and David Leibowitz today. Congratulations to three great people.

My understanding is that a deal was struck so that Detra Shaw-Wilder will be nominated next in Judge Scola’s seat — he took senior status yesterday.

Let’s see if this actually pans out and whether the Senate can confirm them before the end of the year.

From the title, I thought it was to Florida’s ultra conservative Supreme Court. I know next to nothing about federal court nominees.

Generally good ones. Some trading and concessions necessary because Florida has 2 Republican Senators, which is also why it took that long. But good point on confusion - will change title

Okay I need to know the details. How in the world did this happen? There has to be more to it than what was stated in the article. It's been impossible so far to get a judicial nominee in a state with two Republican senators

Some trading - one Florida Senator would not participate, one would deal. Nothing certain yet, but looks like they will go as a package, which includes some compromises
