If they make any difference at all, they'll be making a bigger difference than the majority of the players who left. We also replaced a lot of these players with HS talent, and the talent we signed in this years HS class is some of the best, top to bottom, we've had in a long time. All the transfers are not going to be replaced with other transfers. The math doesn't work that way.
Please explain what is an excuse in my post? If you are referring to the lack of the NIL money is an excuse, than you are not aware on how NIL has impacted college football. Also you are not aware of: That the Napier and some of the UF Admin were not all that crazy about NIL until the last season. That the state of Florida had laws that restricted how the state colleges in Florida and use NIL's can use NIL's to sign/help student athletes. In August of last year, the State of Florida. Other states are not that strict. Changes are being proposed in Tallahassee, but I do not know the status of those changes. Here is a link on how Florida law is restricting the Gators and other st ate schools in using NIL Link: Changes are sought in Florida's law that allows college athletes to be paid
Yea, probably. He brought a lowly Sunbelt 3* with him last year who is arguable the best player on the roster, will be drafted the highest out of the few on the team that will be drafted at all. He brought over another weak 3* that was our most consistent RB. He did well enough to account for two 5* and a 4* to enter the portal. Give me a Napier 3* over a Mullen 4* all day long.
Another coaching grade report: Billy gets a C- Mario Ruiz gets a F College football first-year coach grades: Lincoln Riley earns 'A-' as Mario Cristobal starts with 'F'
Inevitably, it may dawn on the Gator Nation that early in the season, Utah didn't even play their "C" game, and didn't consider their game with Florida as important as the MNC game. That win may have been Fool's Gold...
Don't think Zook was the playcaller. In 2002, we threw a ton of bubble screens under OC Ed Zaunbrecher, but we threw less in 2003 even with a true freshman at QB, and much less in 2004, when Larry Fedora was the OC and Chris had a year under his belt. As for Muschamp, being an offensive coach is superior to being a defensive coach? Think of all the great coaches that focused primarily on defense while having only plain vanilla offenses. And frankly, saying Napier is better than Meyer because of his discipline is akin to saying a Chevrolet Camaro is better than a Ferrari because of it's greater trunk space and back seat room. Meyer won two MNCs for the Gators, albeit with better inherited talent, but without the Portal or NIL money. You see Billy winning any MNCs in the next year or two? I know there is a lot of Meyer resentment on the board, but he is arguably our most accomplished, if not greatest, head coach.
I'm not an anti-Meyer fan, but a disciplinarian, he was not. BTW, I know a coach who worked with Meyer at Florida, and Meyer was a horrible disciplinarian!!! This coach was not anti-Meyer either, but he recognized that every coach has his strengths and weaknesses. My entire point about Napier was team discipline. Is he a better coach than his predecessors? No! But, all-a-round, I think he's going to get us where we need to be. I think Meyer was a better recruiter and playcaller than Napier, but I don't think Billy is a horrible playcaller. No one would even point to his playcalling or time management if AR had of been consistent in executing more pass completions. As far as the greatest coach, it's hard to pick against Spurrier, because he established the program as a consistent winner. Urban definitely took the program up a notch, but he even recognized, himself, that he couldn't have gotten there without Spurrier. So, I will reiterate, Napier's not on par with Spurrier or Meyer, but he is the best coach we have had outside of those two. Napier gives me hope that he will turn this program into something special, but I think he needs two more years.

I worry about urgency. I don’t see it. Urgency with recruiting ( I believe we will finish 17/18 after losing our only QB in the Class. Some may say out of Billy’s control And I would disagree because we had other quarterbacks that were higher priorities that we should have got to sign with us. I feel like we were not as urgent as others. Vizzina and Lonergan are two examples we should of or could have.
