Better teams with better assistant coaches have finished up laying now and we have made no coaching moves as yet. If we enter the season with this entire staff unchanged I am certain BN is the wrong guy going down the path of the last two coaches not wanting to make the necessary changes. There has to be at least one coach in the NCAA out there that will make this team better and there has to be at least one guy on the staff that needs to go. Personally I think there are at least a few that need to be axed.

Agree 100%. At least one new DC with SEC experience. Ike Hilliard for OC would be a home run hire imo. It’s not like we don’t have the money.
Even Jimbo just hired an experienced OC (even with a ton of baggage) because he needs help. I’m worried he’s putting his ego (and this “fitting in the CULTURES” stuff) over doing whatever it takes, within reason obv., to win. 2 heads are better than one. No excuses for the putrid defensive effort this year.
Anybody heard that he’s hired a dynamic experience ST coach yet?
    I’m hearing crickets...

One thing about this season was the early purge of players... That was a head scratcher to me.

The depth seemed to kills us in several games. Some players playing out of position like TD whom was better as a corner-back, but we made him play safety where he was not very good.

We had inconsistency at QB play. The coaches maybe should have used 2 QBs to help that along. Competition is always good. In games that we lost specifically because (QB play) we could not score? Those were learning moments (play two QBs or bench the starter) and opportunities to try another way to win the freaking game at hand.

There are no freebie seasons in how to coach in the SEC. It's sink or swim. Win NOW! And only the creative coaches survive in this league. Solid QB play one more thing that could have brought the Gators more wins even with the team we had . And wins are tied to recruiting... something all coaches are aware of.

The lack of adapting the schemes to the personnel was shocking, but maybe that had more to do with the lack of depth. And that brings me right back to the early purge of players... why?

These coaches should have done whatever it takes to keep this team intact all season long, but instead these coaches failed to keep them united for one common goal... winning.

If letting player leave to keep these coaches and their schemes intact are more important than winning then they have the wrong mindset. We need coaches that understand that the bottom line is winning NOW! NOT keeping their "precious" schemes.

I hope our coaching staff reads what the fan here are posting.

In the SEC... WINNING (THE RIGHT WAY) IS EVERYTHING.

With good on and off the field players of course. And without unethical means.

His grade this year is a solid D...

A month or so ago, I did a good analysis of the 2022 Gator Football Rooster. In that analysis I looked at signing classes and Portal activity from prior seasons.
What I saw was: A lot of Gators exiting by the Portal and very few players signing onto the Gators by the portal. This roster only had nine seniors and 17 juniors. Also, during Mullen's time as HBC, 44 players left the team by the Portal and only 22 came into the team via the portal. All of this roster activity is owned by Mullen.

Yes lack of depth (experience depth) was a major factor in adapting in coaching the team. A coaching staff can only do so much with a talented depleted roster and a roster where most of the players only had one or two years playing together as a unit.

The "Purge of Players" said my some at the end of the 2022 season and recently is somewhat an erroneous statement. At this time the Gators have a total of 23 who have entered the Portal.
Yes that is a lot of players. However, you have to factor in the following items; How many were weeded out my Napier? How many decided that they did not fit in at UF? How many were lured away by more NIL money than what was being offered? What I am trying to say that their exit was not all on Napier.

I believe that the coaches did their best. The dike that they inherited had way too many leaks to plug up. There were a 125 players on the roster and only a handful of coaches. This roster had a total of 55 Freshmen (including Redshirts) and 47 Sophomores (including Redshirts). Out of a 125 man roster, 102 had one year or less in experience on the team. Getting this team competitive was the option. Winning was a blessing.

Letting players leave was not an option for Napier. As I stated before, many players left on their own accord. We have no idea how many players Napier was successful in persuading to stay with the Gators.

Napier was and still is, in building a team than baby sitting dissatisfied players. Yes, Napier and the Gators took some lumps under Napier's keeping the course (his scheme and long term plans).

Some of those lumps were the losing of players to the Portal. However, it now appears that Napier's scheme and long term plans have produced some early fruit. That fruit is a very good and deep signing class and at least 7 new players coming in via the Portal.

Be patient by giving Napier and the Gators some time.

I'm not panicking but starters are leaving and CBN can't close on high-rated portal prospects.
Add that to the fact he's not making any staff changes and it doesn't bode well for the future.

Napier can only persuade the high-rated portal prospect so much. Showing of the Swamp, the training facility, and the rest of the campus will only go so far A lot of colleges (especially in the SEC) have a good if not better facilities and a campus. These programs have one thing that is not happening at UF. That is major big bucks in their NIL programs.

Take a look at the following link and tell me how many Gators do you spot. Also tell me how many placed in the top 25, top 50, top 75, and the top 100. Hint, there is only one. College Football NIL Rankings

By the way, Napier has closed the deal on six players coming to UF via the Portal.

As for staff changes, hold off until college and the NFL season has ended. The reshuffling of the NFL/College staffs is not completed until February. You never can tell who may leave and who will come in.

Are a few 3* players really going to make any difference compared to what we lost?

You are too quick to judge. There will be more players in the portal before the 2023 season kicks off. At this time there are over 100 players in the Portal who have not landed to a new team. Not all of them are 2 or more starts, but a lot of them have experience that could benefit the Gators. Also, look for more players (from all teams) to hit the Portal, after their spring practice/games.
