With all the fear and loathing going on these days, sometimes we need to be reminded that basic humanity and caring for others still exist. The nonprofit Hospice where my wife works goes out of its way to help terminal patients and their families. Recently there was a woman in her late 30s who had suffered from a rare neurological disease since childhood. This woman’s favorite things in life were Christmas and snow, but as she was nearing the end of her life, she knew she would never see these again. A hospice facility worker set up a snowmachine and while the temperature was in the 80s, snow fell outside her window.
