But we now know that four of the items listed in the Receipt for Property are labeled Miscellaneous Top Secret Documents. The only defense for that would be "I don't know how those got there. Must have been the movers."

One thing that's interesting to me is that almost all of the descriptions are very vague except for the one which references Roger Stone and the other referencing info on the President of France. I wonder if they have something on Macron, and if so, what, if anything, were they going to do with it?

If he declassified them, then that means they are unclassified, and therefore, the general public can read them. So… is Trump willing to say that all the docs at Mar-a-Lago contain nothing of a sensitive nature? Can they be shared with the general public?

You mean if he lawfully and factually and procedurally and timely declassified them? And whether they were capable of declassification?

He did not declassify the documents. BS.

Documents related to nuclear weapons cannot be declassified. I'm guessing that applies to some of the other documents. It's puzzling to me that he could declassify them without some record of it or without the DOJ knowing about it. My best guess is that Trump is talking out of his ass.

First of all, I don’t believe he declassified them. What I’m saying is that if he is using that as a defense, he is going down a slippery slope.

Apologies to you, in particular. I was just making a point, in general, to the Trumpians (not you) who have begun to trumpeteer this bogus defense.

I’m referring to that which could be theoretically declassified since we are not 100% sure of what was found. You can declassify or reduce classification without a huge paper trail, or process BTW. I’ve seen it done.

So we are both supposed to believe this is some huge abuse of power and also that they should have exerted a lot more power if it was really that important?

That's intentional. I believe that's to protect the defendant in anticipation of criminal charges and a trial. If that was the case, the details would be revealed by the prosecution in court. I expect one of our legal experts to confirm that or correct me.

I'm going to try that defense next time I get a speeding ticket.

I could have drove in a manner that was consistent with the law, but I didn't have time.

Yeah, I'm sure that will work.

I doubt he got through the first document before tossing all the papers in the air and storming off to grab his clubs.

Golfing would imply he had free time. Clearly if he didn't have time to declassify these documents he couldn't have POSSIBLY been golfing anytime recently. Give the man a break.
