I just saw this, but it speaks to much of what I was saying. This is from Pence, who isn’t remotely a Trump supporter. Even he isn't happy about it. And makes sure to mention Garland, however discreetly. “Yesterday’s action undermines public confidence in our system of justice and Attorney General Garland must give a full accounting to the American people as to why this action was taken and he must do so immediately” FBI searches Trump's Florida estate for classified records
The politics at play are the bureuacrats are going to do everything in their power to avoid having Trump's name come across their desks, let alone have Trump's name in public attached to their work. Trump is highly toxic, if they had to have their name attached to anything involving him, they tried to avoid it if at all possible before accepting that it needed to be done. If the DOJ does something involving Trump, behind the scenes they were desparately looking for any other way possible to fulfill their duties and couldn't find any other way of getting their job done.
It was totally disgusting and UnAmerican, totally unworthy for someone calling themselves President of the United States. We are talking about the speech, right?
Probably accurate. They need a concrete answer to keep this from being a galvanizing witch hunt that rallies the troops. Smart move by Pence too. Appeals to moderate republicans and Trump supporters alike.
F around with Biden and you’ll pay.. he’ll sick the deep state mafia on you or better known as… the National Archives?
When those 15 boxes were turned over, the recovering entity noted that there were multiple other items there that were to be retained under padlock until the legal disposition of them was resolved. Mark Meadows just flipped. I suspect that the padlock was removed and documents to be retained were being accessed and Meadows confirmed that. All just supposition and maybe a baited trap. Or maybe Ive read too many Coco posts
The DOJ needs to release what they were looking for and what evidence they got asap. This needs to be put out there. Trump will use this to win the election IF this was a something small like archive documents.
So he is allowed to break that law but Sandy Berger isn't? I don't remember Berger's legal issues being framed as "something small."
No. What Pelosi did in front of the World in the State of the Union was disgusting. There’s a time and place for everything, but that time and place is not during the Presidential State of the Union. Regardless of whether you love him or hate him, he was a duly elected President of the United States. It was irresponsible, inexcusable and disrespectful to our Country to rip up the President’s speech in front of the World.
It was a stunt. Maybe planned, maybe spur of the moment. I wouldn’t say I was a fan of it, but the speech itself was also rather unprecedented level of bs for a state of the union.
It's hard to convince the libs here that what is happening is wrong. They have wanted this for 6+ years. Their hatred for Trump and loyalty to the media is strong. With that said, some major Never Trumper's have seen enough. From a guy that cannot stand Trump: “Republican insiders, donors, & elected officials are seriously bumming out tonight because this FBI raid pretty much locked up the 2024 nomination for Trump,” he tweeted. “I’ve heard from so many GOP voters tonight who were cooling a bit these past few months on Trump but who are so pissed off about this raid and are back to completely & enthusiastically all in with their support for him. I’m just the messenger,” he added.
At first, I thought this might be a relatively benign situation of retrieval of documents Trump refused to turn over. As time has gone on from last night, this is looking more and more like someone in his orbit flipped and gave DOJ some really potent information.
You had me at “hello” with your critique of his speech. But Pelosi’s stunt remained inexcusable. She and every other high ranking party member has open access to a volume of media, where she could have let her feelings known. Ripping the speech up was way over the line.
