Because nobody can find the order memorializing the declassification. And the docs were not properly marked declassified.

Regardless, the docs belong to NARA, not Trump, and shouldn't be at Mar-a-Lago. And the Espionage Act doesn't require docs to be classified.

Who do you think should be impeached? Biden, Garland or the Judge who approved the warrant or all three. And what would be the basis? Of course the reality as you see it, at least as I have been able to determine from your post history, is that you believe that the former president should be above the law and that he should be able to do whatever he wants regardless of the law

And how do you know that he did unless you take his word and you accept his alternate reality.

The procedure for declassifying docs is very complex, time-consuming, requires a lot of man hours from staff and leaves a long paper trail. None of those procedures were attempted and there's no paper trail.

which is why not a single lawyer bound to the facts or at risk of disbarment has filed anything mentioning this absurd theory that the docs were declassified

Read the post I was responding to.

In that post, I was telling Republicans outraged over the 2020 election to move on, not Democrats.

But apart from warranted criminal prosecutions related to January 6th, and apart from passing measures to clarify legal ambiguities that were almost exploited on January 6th (a number of which I would support), we should all move on (both Republicans claiming the election was stolen and Democrats claiming that if we don't talk about this every second of every day, the US will crumble by 2024).

The posturing and the keeping this at the front page of the media cycle, at this point, is open activism for the Democratic Party.

It turns out January 6th was over a year and a half ago, and Joe Biden has been a worse than subpar President. Clinging to Trump for what I'm assuming will be the entirety of Biden's term is a blatant form of deflection from the guy in power who has done a terrible job. It's convenient, it's a smart campaign strategy considering how abysmal the Biden Administration has been, but it's a form of dishonesty by omission.

In a sense, Democrats love Trump. They love him as this strawman, this ghost, to run against. Because they are taking the gamble that 2016 was the outlier. Trump, with his baggage, will not win elections for the Republican Party in the long-term. I personally believe that's a winning gamble. Republicans need to learn what made Trump so popular, but push candidates without his baggage.

For those with a New York Times subscription, or still have some free access remaining, I highly recommend this piece:

Presidential Power to Declassify Information, Explained

A whole lot of people are acting like certain legal questions regarding Trump declassification are established law, when in reality, they appear to be open questions.

I don’t know for sure, I guess. I assume the files still being labeled classified is evidence in the favor of that hypothesis.

Regardless, it’s you making the confident assertion, so I’m wondering where that confidence comes from.

I think the issue people have is a potential case of selective prosecution.

I've heard criticisms before here that Republicans like "compassion for my friends, the law for my enemies." Considering who is calling the shots at the top of the DOJ and the FBI, it looks like this may just be a case of exactly that from Democrats.

Time will tell if this is true. It's a dicey situation because you don't want the DOJ of one administration targeting political opponents, but you also don't want any politician to be above the law.

Why did Hillary do it on a private email server?

And to be honest, Trump's file cabinets in MAL is probably less likely to be compromised by foreign actors than a private server.

The stupidest of your endlessly stupid takes.

When the GOP stops fellating Trump, the Dems will stop talking about him. He is still the leader of the GQP.

The GOP is about to blow a historic opportunity to pick up seats in congress thanks to not jettisoning Trump and the Dobbs decision.

Oh and Biden's administration is a raging success.

You will really lose on Hillary comparisons. There were 3 mismarked emails on there that were summaries of her staff meetings. No TS/SCI. No HUMINT. No SIGINT.

Bad foreign actors have been all over MAL. Another Russian spy was discovered last week.

    Lol No.

Not really, but he's likely going to run again, so I do understand THAT point.

Yes, Republicans seem to be doing everything in their power to lose. They've always seemed that way. :D That said, the Dobbs decision was still worth it. That's how the SCOTUS is supposed to operate, political consequences be damned.

    Now that's hilarious.

You keep harping on this notion of "mismarked" emails. The fact is a lot more than 3 were classified. According to James Comey, 113 were found to have had classified information.

Also, bad foreign actors were found to have accessed at least one email containing classified information.
