Random question as I sit here twiddling my thumbs, one that hopefully brings out some positive responses/memories of yore.

Of all the seasons you remember and recall, which team or season sticks with you the most? Obvious answers would be ‘96, ‘06, and ‘08, and those are perfectly good answers. But for me, that ‘01 team will always resonate with me. I loved that team. I’m incredibly nostalgic for the Spurrier years and that team was so much fun to watch with Sexy Rexy just slingshotting the ball to Gaffney, Caldwell, Jacobs, and the boys. No, they didn’t win a championship. Yes, they had some extremely unfortunate luck. But I would still put that team up against anybody on any given day.

    1984 Gators Football.
UF’s first SEC Championship team and first recognition as National Champions.
One of the all-time great teams in UF history.

Love Gator football but for me it's the 2005/06 Gator Basketball team that wins first of back-to-back National Championships. One of the best teams of all-time in my opinion. Hard to find a weakness on that team.

Another vote for the 2001 team, a supremely fun team to watch at the right time, I'll take the dislikes but I don't think anyone ever ran Steve's O as good as Rex did.

Easily the 96 team, first NC and it came against fsu.
But since the football NCs dont count for this and even tho it's a football forum I'd say finally winning the first NC in baseball vs LSU after all those years of frustration watching our rivals win (ex fsu of course).

As I was a student on campus in 1984, I remember the celebration and jubilation experienced by the student body. Also remember my extreme dislike for TN and their work to prevent UF from recognizing that SEC Championship thereafter.

01 is my favorite team that should have won a title. Stacked team sadly 9/11 happened and we got stuck playing UT after DD wrecked EG knee.

I believe 2001 was better than our 2006 NC team, and I will die on that hill.

They were definitely two different teams. Can you imagine that 2001 offense with the 2006 defense....wow.

1984 was the 1st year I really remember. I was 7. I remember my mom loading us up in the car to drive down University Avenue and high five people… And then going to the airport to welcome the team home. I remember getting a ball signed by Ricky nattiel and that was my prize possession. I remember the greatest running back room in college football history, Neal Anderson, John L Williams, and Lorenzo Hampton. Louis Oliver and Jarvis Williams straight murkin dudes over the middle.
1995-96 - both those seasons were amazing cuz video game numbers
2001 might be my fav though because that offense was unstoppable.

My favorite as well. I don't know if there's ever been a better UF team than the '84 team during the second half of that season. Three first round RBs behind the best OL in history. Neil and Nattiel at WR. Mitz and Newton in the middle of the DL. A Johnson and Pat Miller on the outside plus Moten and Pennington at LB. Sibald, Vernell Brown, Adrian White and Jarvis Williams in the secondary. Criswell and Raymond might be the best kicker/punter tandem we ever had.

My take I posted in the recruiting forum. I was too young to remember 84 but almost any season other than the title seasons had a bitter loss to a rival. I hate fsu, Miami and georgia too much to truly have enjoyed those seasons as much as others. 91 we best our rivals and won our first sec title ( I count the stripped titles and 90 but wtvr.)

2001 was way too tough an ending to enjoy. We lost an SEC title birth, natty opportunity and spurriers last game at home. Grossman was also robbed of a heisman. Maybe the only other more painful ending to a season regarding what was lost was 2009. Just my take.

91 Gators for me. First official SEC title. Army of gator fans in French Quarter all week leading to the game. Booster parties in New Year's eve. Met coach Spurrier at the gathering. He signed my UF media guide.
