FAMU football program suspended

Suspend why? Why not get to the bottom of it internally and try to cover it up like all the other teams? Yes, I’m cynical.

 

My guess is that coach knows a little bit of the who/what, otherwise he wouldn't make such a drastic move to punish the players/program. Interesting thing is that the announcement appears as though the coach is making a unilateral decision. Would think that must go through the AD. I predict that the suspension won't last long.

 

I’m sure he went through the process with his AD. I can’t imagine he made that decision in a vacuum.

Most college football players do this kind of stuff around their teammates.

 

Unusually nothing classless at all about that, but it did suck.

 

Branding and perceived endorsement is probably at the bottom. The players nor the alumni own the brand or the locker room.

“Permission” is typically required to use trademarks or copyrighted materials. Including UF’s use of Petty’s song.

The reaction to this is sort of bizarre to me. The obvious thing to do is send a cease and desist so the video is taken down and can’t be monetized by the rapper, or they could just blur out all the logos.

Shutting the program seems excessive. Guess it depends on how many were involved, but to do such an impactful thing you’d need a huge number of people in the program to have been “in” on it. Otherwise should probably just suspend the individuals.

 

Sounds like a lot of people were involved. Blurring out logos doesn’t hit at the root of the problem. The team culture is bad. Shutting the whole thing down might be the right thing to do. Who are we to criticize the man at this point, knowing nothing more than a press release? We don’t know jack

 

Not just the trademark but you need permission to use a university’s building. You can’t just enter and do whatever you want. Who gave permission? If not it’s like breaking and entering. It seems to me whoever gave permission didn’t have the right to do so. If the video is embarrassing to tge university, that’s a whole new level.

 

The school may be really pissed at the coach I would think.
