That name escapes me. I think I recall the #2, and presumed starter, after Dale’s injury was Rodney Brewer. Otherwise, I don’t remember the other QB’s on the team.
Kerwin is my first cousin. So, his career and story are easy to remember.

I think Shane Matthews was 8th string. Can't imagine who our 8th string QB would be today.

Sibbald was a great athlete but ended up at DB where he was a solid player, Donnie Whiting was another QB on the roster behind Dorminey. I think Brewer was just a true freshman, Kerwin had redshirted the 83 season.....don't think Rod was the backup until the following year

Roger was in the QB scrum with Kerwin, but went over to defense and was pretty darn good

It's been a while, but I think Sibbald was a Dunnellon guy who could really run and was smart and tough. Made a great safety.
Seems like Whiting was Merritt Island kid, don't ever remember him getting any playing time but he had been a blue chip recruit

Yeah Roger was highly rated out of HS as I recall.

He stuffed a UGA running back on the goal line when Kerwin and Co whipped them if memory serves correctly.

I am not sure he and Watson are going to be on the field at the same time.

It would put a permanent depression in the playing field. That is a LOT of beef.

Shane Matthew's story seems almost like it's fiction. New coach comes in, picks a 7th-8th stringer for his QB...wins the SEC (shoulda won, we were not eligible). And then actually wins it the next year.

Damn...I didn't realize we carried 7-8 scholarship QB's back then.

    Oh, that's right, we didn't.

The legend of Shane Matthew's grows every year. He was the POY for the state of Mississippi coming out of high school and was our third string QB during his freshman year. He was expected to compete for the starting role when Spurrier arrived during his sophomore season.

Every year Shane comes from further back on the depth chart. Makes the story better though
