So much depends on when the gun sees the pitch and the angle between the line of sight and the pitch. Out of the hand will always be higher than near the plate. And if the angle is off it will reduce the speed.

I still have not figured out the details of the radar system at the new ballpark. It looks like two radar guns and neither is pointing directly to the pitcher from behind home plate. They are near the Gator third base dugout. They must get readings and use an formula to deduce the actual pitch speed.

At the Mac they had a radar gun mounted directly behind home plate.

Any word on Fabian who got beaned?

Also, what happened re: his hitting? He fell off the cliff about mid-season last yr, barely a Mendoza in Cape Cod league this past summer but is now hammering the ball.

Nick dela Torre of ON3 reported Derek has multiple fractures of facial bones including nose, cheek bone and orbital bone. Will be out at least 6 weeks.

That does not sound good. Obviously he's out for the rest of fall. Makes me wonder with all of the talented infielders we have this year, maybe Deric uses a redshirt so he can get to work on being a starter for next year. I'm sure his family might not agree with that but I'm wondering if it could be a good thing in the long run. Now if we have more injuries with infielders then he could step back in when needed. Dale Thomas was not seen at practice today so Sully shuffled most of the infield. The only players at normal positions were Rivera at short and Kurland at second.

How is Kurland looking as an infielder?

Also, I'm going into withdrawal pains from not getting a practice report for a couple of days.

Patience young padawan. I've been to 3 practices and Kurland has been good at fielding. His bat has been better. That said Thomas is the better fielder but his bat has been less than. Thomas has really good range and an accurate arm. In warmups I saw Dale range to his right and he was past second when he fielded the ball and then threw a strike to first while fading towards third. Kurland has been clean as far as I can tell but has a knack for making contact with the ball and has at least one HR in scrimmages which was his first at bat on day one. Right now I'd say Sully is choosing Kurland with the plus bat and good defense but if Thomas starts hitting I'd prefer Dale at second because of his defense. Hopefully this fix will hold you for awhile until @Gatorgal04 can visit here with some product.

Not seen them pitch but I have seen their pictures. The Godfather, Apocolyspe Now, and Lost in Translation are pretty good films.

His wine is OK but not great.
