Here's an idea, don't watch them, go to a HS basketball game, the basketball game will be much better.

I would absolutely love it if bowl game viewership went to unprofitable levels for the TV moneypigs.

Glorified spring games yes, but the bowl games future will be in question as people stop watching, other sports like the NFL and the NBA will alter their schedules to fill the void more and more. Those sports haven't scheduled their games against the bowls because of their past popularity. Once the little watched bowls lose their viewers, like what's continually happening, somebody else will start competing as time goes by. Sure the NFL will always give New Year's Day bowl games and the CFP their place but all bets are off once the Networks can find more viewers for other sports in late December.

Florida State receiver Keon Coleman said he plans to enter the NFL draft, adding yet another name to the extensive list of Seminoles who will have a new home in 2024.

Coleman joins fellow Florida State stars Johnny Wilson, Trey Benson, Jared Verse, Jaheim Bell and Akeem Dent as bowl-game opt-outs, while other key contributors, including quarterback Tate Rodemaker and linebacker DJ Lundy have entered the transfer portal and will not play. In all, nearly 20 players from Florida State's ACC championship game depth chart will be unavailable for the Seminoles' bowl game against Georgia on Dec. 31.

Florida State star WR Coleman to enter NFL draft

You're just cherry picking games to support your Kiffin hate. Sadly the Rebs would have kicked our butt this year and Fsu isn't a top 4 team, which is what u said. Finally, I don't really care at this point, but Fsu's SOS isn't even in the same ball park as ole miss'.

It's a great question and delicious as a hypothetical. To answer, though, I'd say that jockeying for seeding is as important as it is in the NFL. That will be about matchups and location. I wouldn't mind seeing the top 4 teams host the first round, but HATE the bye-week idea. Byes work in the NFL, where there are 14 playoff teams. Still gotta win three games to earn the championship. The 12 team playoff with byes means a squad only needs to win two games for a 'chip.
And it's noteworthy that the byes create an incentive for the teams to keep competing. Your hypothetical might be a scenario where those teams remain competitive to earn the bye.

I understand FSU is wanting the Orange Bowl to be considered an exhibition game, with the results not being counted for the 2023 season, thus preserving their undefeated season.

They won't care. It's all about the playoff ratings from this point forward and if the NCAA can get NFL-like numbers for it. I would argue the bowl games are already on their last legs. If kids keep opting out at this rate, they aren't long for this world.

I agree completely on the home games. Definitely worth fighting for. And what a spectacle playoff games on campus in December will be. I'd also like to see weather get involved to make it that much more interesting and worth fighting for (i.e. don't want to go on the road to OSU).

The playoff is the only good thing to come out of CFB in the last 5 years and I have to admit, it's very interesting.

Guess where I was yesterday evening. Watching high school basketball in Ocala at the Kingdom of the Sun Holiday Tourney. I do it almost every year on day one. I watched 4 games for only 10 bucks. I didn't have to get there 2-3 hours early to find a place to pay $20 to park or ride a bus to the game. I got to bring my own drink into the game and not go thru a security check. I wasn't crammed into the bleachers with people squeezing me in from both sides. Of the 4 games 2 of them went down to a last second shot. The officiating might have been a much lower class but that made the unknown even more interesting, ironically. Dang, it even felt like watching sports like we use to know. It wasn't about the money and self gain but trying to win for your team and advance. What a new concept and a breath of fresh air. And what's even better is the competition will be tougher the deeper the tourney goes.

If any of you are basketball prospect junkies, I'll post what one of the best scouts in Florida had to say about the Gators 7 foot 7 seven prospect Olivier Rioux over in NBN, a very interesting take.

That's a good tourney. City of Palms in Fort Myers used to have top teams from all over the nation back in the day. Remember seeing Hurley's dad's team there (I was covering Dupay and Graham's team), among a lot of others.

I think this bowl should be renamed: "Opt-Out" Bowl.

I also think there should be a second tier playoff system to save the bowls.
We can call it the "Opt-Out" National Championship playoffs. O.O.N.C.P.

Somebody needs to remind BG he didnt have any impact on those victories and a 55yd passing effort vs Lsu would have gotten the semis smoked.

It is my hope BG wakes up the morning after the game still having “daymares” of his game experience vs uga the dont go away after opening his eyes, after talking smack

Opt outs suck! Their teammates, school and coaches got them where they are and now these ungrateful spoiled brats bail on their buds and fans like rats from a sinking ship. Lack of character presides!

An ESPN article claims Georgia has no (public) opt-outs, per Kirby. Bowers status is iffy. So perhaps it's uneven on opt-outs.

If so...FSU, shut your mouth and take your pounding.
