The server at a sports bar last night told me a bunch of Florida State players have opted out of the bowl game. Has anybody else heard this and who were the players?
RB Benson and WR Wilson were the two keys guys I think. At least two more, but, not sure of their impact.
Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. They secretly want to be Gators so much that they decided to not play in a bowl. Take that, Noles.
So much for “it’s not fair to the athletes” losing their chance to get their ass kicked in a playoff. They have the opportunity to play a team quite possibly as good as any of those four and get their ass kicked there too.
And to anybody whining about our class & portal, mid major Mike has lost a big chunk off this team and has brought in ONE portal guy. A legacy. He also lost 2 key 5* as well. The playoff committee exposed them & did all of their rivals a big favor lol. If Norvell doesn't have a big portal haul.... AGAIN... fsu will be back to mediocre.
I don't think a single starter has opted out yet. Top Georgia players not playing in Orange Bowl Game against Florida State
Considering that when the dust settles, there will be AT MOST one unbeaten team left in the country, I think they have a lot to gain. They will have beaten an undefeated team who thought they should be playing for it all. They could end up ranked #2.
True. In fact, if things had played out the way they wanted (Georgia beating Alabama soundly), then fsu could have been playing Georgia as #4 vs. #1 anyway. Just much less at stake now.
\ Playing Georgia under Kirby going for a NC with their awful backup QB and awful offensive line...it would have been glorious. It would have been TCU level bad...now it will only be about a 30 point loss for them. Its going to be a ten sack day for Georgia when they play.
Johnny Wilson, the main RB, and the two defensive studs (Verse and Bell). Yeh, those are probably the 4 highest-skilled starters. Big, big drop-off.
Does the AP allocate its vote to the CFP like it did for the BCS for a while? If not, I can see a very, very long outside shot at an undefeated team that didn't make the playoffs being named co-champions by the AP. Particularly one that trounces a team that most all sportswriters view as the 2nd best team in the country in that Bowl game.
I'll have as much sympathy as the rest of the country had when Trask played while half the team sat out or last year when Dexter played while several others opted out. Basically none.
