SEC baseball will adjust schedule and division format in 2025, per report (saturdaydownsouth.com)

I like no divisions.. big no on permanent opponents. I can already envision that.. Team A gets LSU & Ark. Team B gets UK & Mizzu..zero turst the SEC will keep this remotely fair.. Kinda like one team and only one team in football playing UGa, LSU, & Bama every year. No thx.

Permanet opp. is one thing,, playing those 2 twice is another.. Huge discrepency no matter how it falls. Almost half your SEC schedule is vs 2 teams..dumb.

Preserving rivalries in baseball isn't like football, so I would assume there isn't quite the push for that. I'm not sure UF would miss any particular opponent.....maybe UGA but that's a reach.
Maybe Ole Miss-Miss St, UGA UF, UT- Vandy, Aub- Bama, USC-UK, LSU-Arky, Tex-Tamu, Okla -Mizzou as one permanent opp

It wil be tough to keep it legit regardless when 12 of 30 games are set forever. Especially if youre matching up by location/state rivalry

Baseball teams have flexibility to schedule the rivalry games outside of the conference schedule so I wish that wasn't a consideration as well. Already going to be an issue with unbalanced schedules - that would just make it worse IMO.

It will only be 6 games against the 2 permanent opponents each year with 24 games against the 8 rotating opponents.

That was the confusing part - but when I read it again it seems to say 2 series against permanent opponents and 8 others so it seems like we are still at a total of 10 SEC weekends/ 30 game conference season with no multiple series opponents.[/QUOTE]

SOURCES: Beginning in 2025 with the addition of Texas and OU, the
    @SEC
will move to a regular season schedule that will include two series each year against permanent opponents and eight series against rotating opponents for 30 games. The #SEC also will go to a single division.

Edited to add quote from Mr. Baseball which clarifies the issue I think.

Wonder if they will change the tournament format or just stick with the same format and have 4 teams miss the conference tournament instead of 2.

I would probably go with …
LSU/TAM, Ark/Mizz, TX/OK with everyone else the same. Probably splitting hairs. Regardless of how they draw it up, many will still complain anyway.

I'd be okay if LSU misses the tournament every year.

Hopefully stick to 12, which is still too many IMO.. perfect time to cut it to 8.. half the league, but that doesnt makes as much money as 12 or more obv.

    Might go to pool play...

I don't care much about the sec tourney, esp since it is in Hoover, but since $$$ is involved they may just let everybody in, all 16 .

    Couple guesses on the permanents

    UF- UG/AU
    AU- UF/Bama
    Bama- AU/UT
    UG - UF/SC
    SC- UK/UG
    LSU - ARk/Tex
    Tex - Ou/LSU
    OU - Tex/Mizz
    Van- UT/OM
..ok this is giving me a headache ..lol

Probably just me, but Ive never considered Ga or especially Aub big baseball rivals. In recent years, I'd consider Vandy #1 and maybe SC. Either way, not really a fan of permanent rivals in baseball or softball. Just rotate em all.

We all know the end result- UF gets boned.

1.Permanent crossover: LSU, to be played in Baton Rouge every year, because reasons.
    2. We’ll travel to Mizzou, Kentucky, Vandy, Tennessee in March/early April when the weather in Gainesville is perfect and the weather in the Great White North is exactly why people leave those places in droves.
    3. Remaining conference series to be determined on a yearly basis after recalibrating for current talent level. Loaded teams get UF @ their home.

    I’m joking. I hope.

AU is closest trip for UF in SEc.. I assume thats how theyll start..but maybe not..

Like mentioned above Ive never really thought much about rivalries in baseball, but I dont get into them in general. And I agree , just rotate like softball does. i personally dont care if Bama on schedule or not. Especially going foward when everyone is equal if they choose to be.

If I had to pick a sec baseball rivalry off top of head Id probably say Ark-LSU. Or LSU-MSU.

\Kinda way Im thinking but different team..lol Ill trade anyones schedules any year they want, any sport they want.. Ill make out better(easier) 99/100

Id sign up for Vandy as permanent going foward in a second. They will be traditional Vandy again soon.
