Hes probably the 3rd QB off the board, and if previous years are any indication he's probably a late first? If so he's making about 8 million as a signing bonus on top of whatever his salary is.

But the offer was to enter the transfer portal, i.e. play somewhere else besides UT.

$8 million for one year? Nope, don't believe it. Just like I don't believe for a second Duke is paying that Mensah kid $8 million over 2-3 years.

If he is good in the nfl, thats 35-50 mil a year. Its not that surprising to me if you condider what we pay to watch them play.

The salary cap in the NFL is north of $250 million, so a $50-55 million QB only takes home about 20% of the cap. The highest CFB NIL payroll is reportedly The Ohio State at ~$20 million. So an $8 million QB accounts for at least 40% of a CFB NIL payroll. I'm just skeptical a collective would dole out that kind of money for a 1-year rental unless they thought they were contenders, and of the schools likely on that list most already have a QB they really like.

College teams will also have over 100 players on their rosters, not 53.

In what world does it make sense for Arch Manning to sit on the sidelines for all intents and purposes for two years, get only one year of starting experience or maybe even have to come back an extra year and be a year behind getting NFL money? He should have and could have gotten three years of starting experience at a top level program.

He has played just enough to demonstrate that even his grandfather didn't have the wheels and mobility he's got, but he's still going to be making freshman mistakes next year. Either he made a bad decision to go to Texas and possibly sit behind Quinn Ewers or his family did. They probably didn't think he'd be sitting for two whole years, but he did. It took those two wasted years to discover he probably should have been starting all along. It cost him a ton of NIL money and he has nothing to show for it yet. I don't know, you only get one or two college QB's named Manning a generation, seems a shame to waste it.

Imagine miami without Ward. Whatever they paid, im sure it was worth it. I have my doubts on this 20 mil max too. A&M supposexly spent 30 mil on one class. We dont know what really is being psid as nothing has to be reported and not too many are eager to show their contracts for some reason .

Agree 100%. Makes no sense for a program like Duke to put all their NIL money on one guy and surround him with 2* and 3* talent. Like Mike Ditka dumping his draft for Ricky Williams.

We know Ohio State's NIL because the school requires players to report their NIL deals to the school within 30 days of execution. All schools should require this disclosure.

If it hasn’t happened yet the day is coming when the coaches are high on a project player. A 3star but collective is going to say nope… no NIL for you and a great college football player will miss an opportunity… along with the changes to the walk on program

It’s apparently already happening - but in reverse.
See Napier, Billy vs. Rashada, Jaden

Nope completely different… if the collective had the funds Rashad’s would have signed… The situation I am describing is were the collective has the funds but does not agree with the coach and won’t offer an NIL

You do not know that - you’re just speculating on Dollar amounts. It’s just as likely that Billy took one look at the number and said no effing way.

Id think somey got wind of the contract and thought we could do better, especially once he started playing Hokey Pokey. Make a great offer but no back and forth between schools.

As stated in another thread NIL money may keep some guys in college football for perhaps a year longer than they would otherwise, some guys will roll the dice to raise their draft stock, but with the overall bouncing around of players via the portal and the chaos that has brought with negotiations, tampering and whatnot overall I don’t see it as an improvement for college football.
