The Athens and Atlanta media will do nothing but report the facts. You can be sure there will be no deeper investigations of the culture at UGa. If that ever happens (unlikely, it never did at Bama despite drug dealing out of the athletic dorms at one time), it will be a national media source that starts it.
That's insulting. I don't recall any of UF's players getting killed. I do recall a suicide by a former player that was obviously troubled before his brief UF career.
Gator fans are a bit hypersensitive and may have a bit of a victim complex but sometimes it makes sense given how the program has been treated relative to other programs. Urban Meyer was 15 years ago plus. As I cited, Georgia had a massive arrest problem even then but it's florida that is mentioned. Fsu, Nebraska, Miami all had rogue programs at times and yet it's florida that is the reference. Florida suffered the worst probation out of all sec schools and basically any school not named SMU. When does this stuff end?
To what standard do we hold a 20 plus or minus year old? Must they be held in contempt for choosing another school? If you want to be punished for leaving, go in the military.
We are sports fans. He left us to go to one of our biggest rivals. We owe him no sympathy. The only thing he's being punished for right now is his own stupid decisions, and they have nothing to do with us.
I agree with both you and 1963. If he wanted to leave, good for him. It's his right. But once he leaves, and especially since he went to georgia, knowing that it would be his intent to "embarrass" the staff by running all over us, what obligation should the fan base have?
Two question to those who hold bad feelings about Etienne. Would we be ecstatic if a five star Bulldog player who enters UF via the Portal? Or would we give him the poor shoulder? We had to face the music in that the NIL has change collage football into a business. Making money playing football can be very fleeting. A player is just one play away from a season or a career ending injury. You have to take advantages when a situation comes open for you. A lot of college players will never get a sniff from the NFL. Thus, I do not blame them if they can get more juice by squeezing their NIL options.
Again, we are sports fans. It’s natural for us to embrace those joining our team and shun those leaving us, especially when they’re leaving us to join a bitter rival. We owe Trevor nothing. We damn sure owe him no sympathy for getting arrested. We may have a soft spot for a guy like emory jones who gave us his all, and left with grace, but guys like trevor and princely can get bent.
Yes we would be happy if a position of need and good kid that contributes. But georgia fans would have the option of berating him for it.
As a freshman in 1963 I dare say that most of my frat bros and friends could have been arrested for DUI. Times have changed. Having bee married for 57 years, having 3 adult children and grandchildren I am more aware than most that people make decisions and live with the consequences. Nevertheless, I have become more forgiving than I was earlier in my life.
You leave UF to play for our biggest rival and trash talk our Gators on the way out - I don’t like you anymore. Gatorbait
Decisions? No, but it makes their job more difficult no doubt when there isn’t fan support. They definitely don’t look here for football advice though.
