I think that TG and Dennis Gates did amazing jobs based on preseason expectations.

Thank you! That was just coaching malpractice. You are up by 3 and there are limited options:
    - Foul on the 3 and lose - obviously the one thing you cannot do.
    - Give up a 3 to tie - 30% chance
    - Foul and they shoot 2. Say 70% on the first and same on the second, so it is worth 1.5 points. Guess what, that is not 3.
    - They make 1 and miss the second and score off the board. The offensive team has a 14% chance of getting a board on a rebound, then 50% on a 2 and 30% on a 3. If it is a 2 you go OT (say 7% chance), but if it's a 3 you lose (4% chance). That is very low probability. That is lowered by them having to make the first (say 70%).

There is no debate here and Calipari is far too experienced to make such a mistake.

That narrative seems nice except for the actual fact that Arkansas was higher rated and picked to finish higher in the SEC than our Gators almost universally by all experts. Cal did less with more than Golden as well as several other coaches this year in the SEC…

So Cal finished exactly where he was predicted to at the beginning of the season. So for him that actually is an exceptional season!
