It's not like Nebraska has been a contender recently. Why would poachers be going to their scrimmages and spring games to poach people? Win a conference championship. Beat 3 ranked teams in a year. Finish in the top 25, and then worry about people poaching your talent. Stop making excuses for your relegation to mediocrity. A once-storied program that decimated the Gators in a Championship game like we were a high school team, has now been reduced to crazed allegations that a team that barely finished 5-7 last year in a conference that is not widely regarded as the top conference in college footballs unsuccessful because their talent is being stolen from them.

What happened to NIL? Pay your players and they won't leave if they are that good and that important. Put an "exceed or leave clause" into the NIL deal which gives the cooperative the right to exceed whatever offer the player is getting from the rival NIL cooperative.

I loved when practice was open to the public.I think Saban was the first to close off practices...I freaking hate all the changes in College football. ( except the playoffs )

He's probably right with respect to mid-tier programs. Again, LOL, like European Soccer. If you're a fan of a mid-level team and you have a good player you fully expect all the top teams to try and come get him. Difference is you'd get some compensation on the backend.

THIS may be the cure. If enough people see this as a waste of money - or when these highly-paid freshmen don't pan out in the pros - then maybe you'll see some kind of reform. Like everything, it will take pain to force change.

About 15 years ago, I started losing interest in the NFL, replacing that part of my weekend with chores so I could go to all Gator home games and watch college football ALL day Saturday. This year it became obvious to me that I am back to where I was and will probably continue To move to more NFL. NIL, and the portal have trashed the college game.

Between this and the incompetence and corruption of the officiating make watching college seem like I’m watching professional wrestling. We all know that the TV companies are now calling the shots through the refs.

What I loved most about the college game was the effort and momentum swings. In big games, few leads were safe. If both of my choices involve watching spoiled, coddled, and pouty athletes play at their own whims, I will pick watching the ones who are the best at doing it do it. The best thing college has going over the NFL now is there are a lot better looking women at college games.

The teams losing the players are getting something on the back end, I just wouldn’t exactly call it compensation.

Generally speaking, following a European model on anything is usually not a good idea.

Typically shallow response. You're already "copying" everything BUT the compensation to the team that loses the player. But if you prefer Wild Wild West to actual Rules, have at it.

Would doing away with spring portal window alleviate his concern? Certainly he can’t be the only coach that feels this way.
