There is no proven correlation between the two and as pointed out ad-nauseum, every board (even Alabama's!) has negative posters. I'd say that as bad as this board gets sometimes after a head-scratching loss, the media is infinitely more negative. Good luck getting them to write only positive stories about the coaching staff.
Honestly, do you think other staffs try to negative recruit against Alabama by telling them to read their dumb fans’ negative posts and question whether Saban will be there in a few years? I’ll answer it for you……no
There we go. Please enlighten me. I've posted a lot the last few days, point out the pumpin'?!? The closest thing I can think of would be still considering George as a valid RT2 after a year of starting experience. As noted, I still want to addd another OT to compete for spots on the OT depth chart. So, slap my ass and call me Sally. I think that's a fair evaluation. No?!? All in all, you proved my point. Because I don't goose step to the power whiners agenda of hate and negativeaty. Butt hurt bellyachers want to label me as a sunshine pumper.
They probably emphasize the Saban is 72 and "won't be there forever." It doesn't matter if you're pure as the driven snow as a coach....someone is going to find an avenue to negative recruit you.
So we should be improved at every position next year? Hard to see that with our best RB and best DE leaving without being replaced by immediate contributors. Also, our OL, LB and secondary performance last year was very poor. Being a little bit better there is not going to cut it. We need dramatic improvement at those positions. Napier still has a lot of work to do in the portal if we're going to have a good season next year.
Good question. What I see are whiners and non-whiners. I must be missing the sunshine pumping part somehow.
Just a little joke, my man...don't take me too seriously. However, I can hardly distinguish the difference between the power whiners spewing negativity about the coaching staff and other posters power whining about the power whiner's negativity. Its surely seems a Catch-22 to me.
Here I'll help. When someone starts a thread reviewing the guys we signed and their potential impact as well as a constructive needs assessment going forward maybe don't immediately respond with how screwed we are because the coach and program is trash. Maybe don't start multiple threads about the same subject that you (not you specifically) started 2 topics below like someone did last week, twice. Maybe stop power bitching for two seconds to realize almost everyone who has complained about the complainers has articulated several concerns with the coaching staff, roster and program management while also trying to see the what has and can improve along the way. There are hardly any sunshine pumpers if any.
Who said RB "should" be better? This is what was said about the DL: The freshmen will now be sophomores, adding the portal guys and in spite of loosing Princly, UF will be better on the DL. What is wrong with that evaluation? The OL wasn't "very poor". The interior OL was solid with OC mostly good. After losing a starter at OT before the seaon started and the other starting OT banged up for half the season, the stressed OT depth failed. The OT play was very poor at times. For how the OT position could improve next year, I actually started a thread on that very subject about the same time Candy started this thread. Here's the thread: TP 12/26/23: The OTs- Any Updates on Kiyaunta Goodwin and Michael Tarquin Any issues with the projected OT improvements?
Um….the topic here is that other staffs are pointing to the shelf life of our coach and using posts from people like you to offer proof. Your reply is “Alabama has negative fans too” and then when I call you out about it, your response was that other teams negative recruit against them by using Saban’s age. Your reply has nothing to do with the topic or my comment, whether you care to use that mirror or not.
We lost at least a co-starting RB and replaced him with 2 freshmen. That's not a wash. We lost the one DE who was creating a pass rush and are relying on improvement from a young DE coming off a knee injury and development from freshmen. I'm high on our young DEs too but I wish we had a proven producer there. Our interior OL was passable last year and so was Barber when he was healthy. All the other OTs were very poor. We should have some rising juniors and sophomore OTs who have at least flashed but our pipeline there is relatively barren. OT recruiting has been our biggest issue. Maybe the transfer or Westphal will solve our OT problem but that still leaves us with an interior OL that's underperformed. We desperately need improvement on the OL since we won't have Etienne making guys miss.
Perhaps I didn't make my point very clear. It was that negative recruiting can take many different routes and pearl-clutching by portions of a fanbase over that negative recruiting isn't going to do anything to change it. Frankly, anyone making a decision based on what is written on a fan message board isn't going to inducted into Mensa anytime soon.
Don't get me wrong. Princely was good, but the ceiling of any of Collins, Searcy, and James is greater than him, and not giving some of his many snaps to them would not be right. Princely is doing what he believes is right for him, and UF is right to not overpay him to stay.
You have changed your argument. We were not debating that negative recruiting occurs across the board. We all can agree that it does. The issue is that for whatever reason you don’t seem to want to admit that people like you that post trash about CBN and our team are fuel that is being used against us. Now your point is that if it is true, then the kids are just dumb? Just stop bro….
We weren't having a debate at all, bro. Apparently you thought we were. Go ahead and find that post where I talk "trash" about Napier. I'll be waiting.
I think this way overstates the importance of ETN. Good player, but I don't think we'll have much trouble replacing his production. Princely a bigger loss to an already bad defense, though I think his departure was somewhat expected albeit via NFL rather than portal. Overall I do think we'll end up improved between portal, guys coming back from injury, development of youth, and hopefully better coaching with the staff shakeup.
