Needs to add some weight. Ceiling wise his is very high. Like I said sounds like weight and strength. Harris only one I see starting this point and that may only occur if there’s an injury.
Candy, your posts are always informative and insightful. I always look forward to what you have to say. Thanks for being plugged in and a source of good information.
None are slated to start. Remember we have the following starters back: Slaughter Mazzuca Leonard Barber George Add Crenshaw Dickson George will move inside most likely but as you can see, we have starters back, and really no spots for Harris unless there’s an injury. Kearney is still at least a year away unless he has put on some serious weight
Is Mazz officially back? It would be excellent if he was. He walked on SR day which normally means he's gone.
I am aware. Just saying that’s what we need - a few surprises. Barber didn’t start his 2nd season until someone got injured, then ended up as freshman all American. Do we have someone like that on the roster? No one knows. The Pouncey’s came in and crushed it off the bat. Same with the 2 OL for LSU last season. I am aware those are the exceptions. But that’s the point I am making. We need a few surprises, because I don’t think we’ll be great otherwise. And that applies for the entire team. We don’t have bonafide all conference players…Need some to emerge asap!
The key to next season is adding a veteran LB. Obviously, our D was pathetic but with the transfer recruits adding to the returnees, DL should be better. LB is full of holes until the freshmen come around. We need a solid portal LB now. Maybe the rumored LB/DL from Toledo signs on.
Really like Slaughter at center. Jake really came on. And Richie was our most consistent performer at guard imo
I hate to tell you this but negative internet posts are insignificant to the overall scheme of things. As are positive ones.
And, this is exactly why people should consider monitoring their own extreme negativity here, despite so many posters arguing that recruits don't read these boards. Realism is one thing; over the top stuff is truly counterproductive and self-fulfilling. Also, the free-reign given to obvious trolls lately to increase clicks is hurting this site and maybe even the program, especially if your anecdote here stems from more than isolated cases. We should all remember that this board is the free one that outsiders can read.
Thank you Candy, appreciate your OP. Basically you are projecting improvement at every position group. Optimistic to be sure but not unreasonable considering UF was not particularly dominating at any position group last year, punting perhaps? When it comes to SEC football, slight improvements in certain position groups may have monumental consequences. Can the secondary improve - You bet, if the opponents don't have 10 seconds to throw. We might grab interceptions as well. Goes to Defensive line performance. If the offense will give Mertz 4 seconds perhaps he converts more of that 73% completion % down the field and into the end zone. Say hello offensive line. So getting back to Bobby's theme, yeah, the offensive and defensive line. While UF has plenty of warts (special teams, crucial penalties, and an inability to play competitive defense), the Gators were close and competitive in most of the games. A couple of breaks, the team is in a minor bowl. The schedule looks tough, the MIAMI game looks HUGE, through my lens, literally a must have, just to keep the hot seat manageable to start the season. If fans thought the Utah loss was tough last year, I don't want to think what a loss to Miami would be like to start the 24 season. I'm with you, 23 is in the rear view mirror, I'm looking for a turnaround in 24.
