Here is the link: Sophomore Niels Lane Battling For Minutes In Crowded Wing Group | GatorCountry.com In addition to contributing at the wing, Eric thinks that Lane has the tools to be the backup point guard. What do you think?
In his limited minutes last season, the player Niels most reminded me of was freshman Scottie Wilbekin. Really locked in with fundamental defense.
This is really what the takeaway from the article is. I agree with Eric 100%. I wish Niels nothing but success, and hope that it happens.
I think we will know more after the UNC scrimmage and truly after the FSU game. I call this as “Proof in the pudding”! LOL Last year Neil looked lost, out of sync with what he was asked to do! I believe Niels will have a nice sophomore jump. Now will his outside shooting be lights out, no, but better. An example I always use, Corey Brewer wasn’t a very good shooter when he got to Florida, when we won the second Title, he had become a reliable outside shooter to go with his all round hustle game. So with this in mind, I think Niels will be a better shooter than he showed last year, but when it gets to crunch time in games like FSU, what will his % of shots be then? Go to guy with game on the line, he will have to prove that to all Gator fans.
Foul trouble or an injury to Appleby could be a problem. Right now McKissic is the backup at PG, but we could use a third guy and that could be Lane
