There is reasonable compromises with almost everything... within reason.

Sure nothing works all the time. However the variability of green production is controlled by nature where as fossil fuel plants don’t have anywhere near unpredictable production solar or wind do.

The Feds have propped up oil and gas forever.

Again, if you read the article, you would know that is not true quantitatively.

This is self mockery so allowed. When we became empty nesters, we sold our much bigger house in South Tampa near the Bayshore etc. I was full of certainty that we could live FAR more simply. We rented a 950 sq. ft. place. I was quite proud of myself, not just for climate reasons, but the whole simplify, Swedish death cleaning, etc.

Didn't renew after one year. Too small, even for two of us, with visits. So much for living that sparsely. Tried to, but failed. Not proud.

But there is a middle ground. Big house to small house didn’t work but big house to medium house might.

    I read the article.
It cites many one offs with regards to traditional electricity production.

Having had a solar system for almost 10 years I can tell you the production is extremely variable. Systems need to very over sized to get a decent consistent output.

Having a personal system is not really the same thing as having a utility-level production capability. Nor is it the same as being able to combine wind and solar. The important point in this analysis is to look at the correlation between the production of the facilities. Facilities that are variable can be combined into relatively stable systems. But the variability is quantitatively less than fossil fuel plants.
