I think that one of our biggest problems is that if we simultaneously argue that all those millions of people who disagree with us are diluted and we, people just like them, see reality with perfect clarity. As Madison put it,

As long as the connection subsists between his reason and his self-love, his opinions and his passions will have a reciprocal influence on each other; and the former will be objects to which the latter will attach themselves.”

Well if this person isn’t representative, I think it does represent an example of nutpicking.

As to your deeper point that people and society are changing for the worse, I think this is worth a lot of discussion. Why might we think this? In what ways is it getting worse? How do we define worse?

I also think we need to acknowledge that the other side also believes things are getting worse in very different ways. Why do we have this divide in perspective, and how might we come to a common understanding? I think addressing these questions is much less instantly satisfying than painting the other side as crazy, but I also think these questions are much more important and have a chance of improving the situation.

 

She does have bigger problems…she’s obviously ate up with liberal progressivisms. That would make anyone lose their mind.
What should have been a SNL skit has unfortunately become the America that creates real life assholes who seem to think it’s normal to say the shit she said.
