Looked up his contract when he was mentioned and saw only a two year $2.5 million deal. Failed to click career earnings tab. Reggie Nelson Good for Reggie Freakin Nelson![/QUOTE] Without looking it up, he played for jacksonville, Cincinnati and Oakland. Probably seemed a little disappointing in jacksonville but hit his stride in Cincinnati if I recall. Could be wrong
Apples v oranges. I can have a really positive attitude about winning the lotto, but if I don't even buy a ticket, it doesn't matter.

In Engineering it is practice to simplify calculations by striking out of the equation those factors which are infinitesimally small. So in calculating the odds of winning the lotto, a $10 bet is essentially the same odds as a $1 bet —> damn near zero. However, if you aren’t in it for even $1, your odds are by definition zero. So the point is, get in it for $1, but any more than that is throwing your money away.
For years my dad bought $5 lotto tickets for both drawings (Wed and Sat?) every week. Each time he put the ticket in a drawer so if he ever won he could deduct those tickets from his winnings. After maybe 20 years they were in the process of moving and he opened up that drawer full of lotto tickets and imagined if they were all $5 bills. He stopped buying lotto tickets after that
Not sure what is confusing. Positive attitude is good and all but it is work and effort that is going to effect change, which is essentially what Crusher originally said. Then somehow that got conflated with negative people suck. Yeah, no shit, but that wasn't what he was talking about.
In the first scrimmage, there were times that the offense and defense had big plays. The defense, clearly, was better than the offense--and they should at this point. Players that really stood out on defense were Douglas and Howard. Many are saying you can see the chemistry between Mertz and Dike. All of the running backs stood out. As of now, the freshman running backs are looking so good, they should be used this fall! What else did you guys and gals hear?
I feel like I have to qualify myself every time I give an opinion that I think Napier is getting there and short of a "slam dunk" experienced replacement, firing him outside of a catastrophic failure this year would crush the program. With that said, we heard similar things last year. That's not a knock on Napier either. There have been a handful of years since 1990 that scrimmage reports were accurate. Off the top of my head, reports of a very young receiving Corp making a huge splash following the loss of Willie Jackson and company in 94 and pre 2008 reports of the defense making a huge jump as well as reports of a monstrous Percy Harvin. Not a whole lot in between. Also, Brandon James may have been one of the only unheralded players to receive hype that actually ended up being better than as reported.
Yep. My old DC said that tackling was "mostly about want to". He was right. The best tacklers were always the ones that had the most desire to put somebody's ass on the ground. Hopefully we have many more on the field that "want to" than we have had the last two years.
If you don’t want to hit Herschel Walker, you’re not gonna take the proper angle in the first place. we have too many guys waiting for somebody else to make the hit
This is reminiscent of the Bill Petersen malaprop - “All right guys, line up alphabetically by height.” Kudos to you, sir.
I really do get your reticence about the scrimmage reports. Every year we all get our hopes up, because we REALLY want to believe the football program is turning around! I have done something different this year. Rather than just reading, I have listened to about 8 different Gator podcasts. I don't watch the news on TV anymore because I don't want to hear some moron tell me his opinion. And I wouldn't listen to a podcast for the same reason. The podcasts I watch are based on players, former players, a sports writer that has observed a portion of the practices, or some other practice observer. So, I take a report very seriously when I hear this is what was observed. Often, I hear similar information on podcasts that only reinforces what I have heard. Here's my opinion about all of it: I think it is not just hype to excite fans. But, it is practice, which is NOTHING like a real game! Obviously, when we play real opponents, it will be totally different than scrimmaging with fellow teammates. Then, we will learn the real truth. Until then, I will enjoy my optimism, and save my negative emotions until Game Day! Why should I be miserable 365 days a year?
Went to Vegas with my brother for his 50th birthday. On the way to the airport, the cab driver said he worked in Vegas 20 years and had never taken a winner to the airport. Lot like Lottery with over a 300 million to 1 chance of winning the big prize.
I have a good feeling about the offense. I think the two questions on offense are: will there be wide receiver's who step up their play, and will Mertz be successful adjusting to taking smart, calculated, risks? I think Mertz was really coming on last year and then he got hurt. I am confident Mertz will do well. I have reservations about the wide receiver room. I think the three starting WR will be fine, but what about the other three WR?
