If you don't think Trump wants to destroy democracy I suggest that you read Trump's proposals as well as Project 2025 (a summary would probably be sufficient since it's well over a hundred pages in length) and despite Trump's claim that he knows nothing about it, it includes several of his proposals including some he tried to implement when he was in office, it's a product of the Heritage Foundation, an organization with which Trump is closely associated, a number of its proposal reflect the Republican National platform and several of its authors are closely associated with Trump.

If you buy into his end-of-world fear porn, which has become his only message, then that’s on you. I’d hope you’d look to objective evidence to see things aren’t close to being as bad Trump cries — our inflation, which is coming under control and dropping, is better than most of the world, we are moving steadily to a rebound economy, our stock market has performed better in 4 years than any 4 year period I can recall. Likewise, I’d hope you’d actually ask—what is it that Trump could actually do that would make things better? Because all I’ve heard is that “hiring” him is the only thing that will save the universe, because … well, he says so. He just panders to his audience by nebulously referencing platitudes.

Obviously, nobody is going to sway your proclivity to vote Republican. But that doesn’t mean you need to buy into the drivel that Trump—a guy that literally lied to you about election results for 4 years—is the only possible means to save democracy. What a bunch of bull crap. We have 1 million undocumented immigrants working in agriculture, a $100 billion industry, alone. An additional 1 million working in construction, 1 million in food services (restaurants and cafeterias), and 5 million spread out over other industries. What would happen if they were all magically deported tomorrow? Think we could find replacements at the same wages? Or, would we have to pay more and struggle to find 8 million to replace these immigrants?

The research also shows immigrants, because they do the jobs most citizens are unwilling to do, especially at lower wages, are a net gain on the economy. And those that do bring family over, especially school aged kids? Those kids go on to graduate high school, if not higher, and become a large net positive. It was estimated by the CATO Institute that if Trump, during his firs term, ended DACA and deported them, it would mean a loss of $2.8 billion in tax revenues over the next decade. And billions more the following decades.

Your estimates of 500 million persons here is also bunk. First, not every immigrants wants to bring family over. Many come and stay only part time before returning home, which is why the undocumented population isn't ballooning. It's pure fantast to believe 100% of undocumented will stay, and everyone will eventually bring families with them.

 

I can see why you think of yourself as a math person. Apparently, $800,000 = $800,000,000,000. That is some high quality math. And that is before you figure out if a person is a "citizen" or an "illegal."
