Elon Musk: Trump must be elected in 2024 to Save our Democracy

Musk's statement that Trump must be elected to save democracy reminds of the statement made by a military spokesman during the Vietnam war that "We destroyed the village to save it".

U.S. forces killed 328 VC, mostly during the battle of Bến Tre. Civilian casualties in Kien Hoa Province included 528 killed and 1,219 wounded. Bến Tre suffered major damage during the battle with over 5,000 homes destroyed and generated over 30,000 refugees in Bến Tre and the neighboring Mỏ Cày District.[2]: 298–9 

On 7 February Associated Press journalist Peter Arnett flew into Bến Tre to report on the fighting there. In a report he filed he quoted an unnamed US Major as saying "It became necessary to destroy the town to save it."[5]

While the analogy is sure to get a rating of "off-topic" the point is to compare the absurdity of rationalizing destroying something to save it.

Since Biden/Harris took office, stock market at record high, crime down, unemployment still low, inflation spiked but now near target level, and interest rates are falling again. Yes, there are still bad people out there and our country nor the world is perfect. But what's the major issue that requires a hero to save us? And how in the world is that savior Trump, who promises to raise prices with tariffs, and hurt families and our economy with his mass deportation strategy?
