Threads is pretty annoying given you just get algorithmic content from people you dont follow, and you cant even go chronological. If that doesnt change, its going to just be an even shittier version of Twitter, where you basically see whatever Zuck wants you to see. Choose your billionaire.
Yeah, they are going to have to improve it to keep their customer base, which developed very quickly due to issues with customer satisfaction at Twitter. Normally I would say that they don't have long to do it, but Elon keeps screwing up on Twitter so much that they probably have at least a few months in which to add features before people get tired of it. Adding a functional algorithm shouldn't be a problem for Meta/Facebook at all of they decide to commit to the app.
Maybe people use these things for something other than breaking news, whether is sports, politics, world events, etc. Seems like the main appeal of Twitter to me and why certain people are addicted, but I guess that's not profitable and they have to juice algorithms to boost paid content, subscribers, etc. Zuck seems to have fallen into the same trap.
I just love watching Elon cleaning house. He’s fired 80% of Twitters employees and is now cash flow negative. $40B going to zero in less than 2 years. That takes dedication. Elon Musk says Twitter's ad revenue is down 50% and cash flow is negative | CNN Business The billionaire owner tweeted Saturday, in response to business advice from a follower, “Need to reach positive cash flow before we have the luxury of anything else.” The tweet is in stark contrast to his tone in April, when Musk told the BBCthe platform is now “roughly breaking even” and that most of its advertisers have returned. (He lied) The New York Times reported that Twitter’s US advertising revenue from the five weeks from April 1 to the first week of May was down 59% year-over-year, citing an internal presentation. (CNN has not viewed the presentation.) Just 43% of Twitter’s top 1,000 advertisers as of September, the month before Musk’s takeover, were still advertising on the platform as of April, according to data provided to CNN by market intelligence firm Sensor Tower last month.

In the complaints, critics said the sign was put up without a permit, is unsafe, and is a nuisance; one complaint said that its flashing lights made it hard for residents to sleep. snip The property owner will be assessed fees for the unpermitted installation of the illuminated structure,” Hannan added. “The fees will be for building permits for the installation and removal of the structure, and to cover the cost of the Department of Building Inspection and the Planning Department’s investigation.”
'X' sign atop Twitter HQ in SF taken down after city, residents complain 'X' sign atop Twitter HQ in SF taken down after city, residents complain
Was listening to some comments that the reason for stoppage was they didn’t block the sidewalks or put up guards for the debris, just starting taking down.
They should have gotten a permit if it was required, which I am sure it was but I can't say for sure. But it doesn't seem like a good way for SF to be hospitable to one of the local businesses. I wouldn't be surprised to see them move to Texas like Tesla did.
Well. The app formerly known as twitter changed on my phone to X. I am not a fan. I am finding I am using it less and less.
There is a chronological feed now, but they dont make it convenient, its pretty much like Twitter now in that regard
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/07/31/twitter-x-sign-headquarters-logo-taken-down/ SAN FRANCISCO — Construction crews dismantled a giant “X” sign atop the downtown building where the company formerly known as Twitter has its headquarters Monday, after residents here complained of a bright flashing light that disturbed them throughout the night. “SHUT IT OFF!!” read one of two dozen complaints to the city’s Department of Building Inspection about the sign. “It is currently flashing rapidly and extremely brightly. It is creating a massive nighttime nuisance and making it hard to sleep.”
