Your overall income in the end will always factor in your PTO arrangement, benefits, sick days, leave, available bonuses and potential (if any) of overtime pay. Always has. An employer who is offering "unlimited PTO" will absolutely pay more to do the same job versus an employer who's offering 5 weeks of PTO, unless the former does not care about competing for the same level of talent as the latter. If that's too "tricky" for you as a potential hire to understand, don't blame the employer. Every employer's total compensation package is unique to a degree.
Elon Musk’s Twitter Teeters on the Edge After Another 1,200 Leave It sounds like Twitter is down to about 1/3 of the employees remaining. I don’t doubt there was a lot of fat, but you can’t just cut severely like that without severe consequences. This seems like a disaster for Musk.
It was reported before he finalized the deal, that Musk wanted to let go of 75% of the Twitter headcount. He let 50% go and is baiting the next 25% to leave on their own. While they may struggle to re-organize for a bit, the truth is Twitter's viability was always dependent on a very large reduction in force. He's not stupid. In fact, Musk knows EXACTLY what he is doing at least as it pertains to employee lay-offs, employee retention. He has built several super successful companies. This is EXACTLY what he wanted to take place from a personnel standpoint. In terms of day-to-day operation of Twitter, it remains to be seen what he can do, but as it pertains to personnel, please don't fall for the narrative. This is want Musk wanted. He's going to turn day-to-day ops over to someone else within a couple months. This is Musk doing the gutting and will leave it to someone else to do the re-birth.
That's a stupid plan. I don't think Elon is that dumb and you are just making things up. If a competent CEO wanted to fire 50% of his work force, he'd determine who are essential, who are the hardest workers, what percentages of what departments can be trimmed. This plan you think he has, where he's going to "bait" half the remaining to quit by acting like dickhead, is simply not smart. First off, the best workers, who know they can easily find work elsewhere, where will be the first to go. Secondly, he'd have no control over how many people from one department quit. If all his engineers quit, but all his sales people stay, that's a pretty bad outcome. Anyway, I'm rooting for the workers in this. They know what they are worth. They know what a toxic work environment looks like. They know they can get all those benefits and perks that Musk cancelled somewhere else... As far as turning over control to someone who knows what they are doing, the sooner the better... Musk is leaving a long lasting stench on this company that is going to hurt the future CEO when it comes to finding workers.
LOL, employers bait workers into quitting all the time. No U/E benefits if they quit. If you don't understand this happens all the time, I don't know how I can help you. But Musk's tactics, as I've laid them out, wouldn't be exclusive to Musk at all. CEOs, management use this tactic all the time.
Not sure that's how it works, here. If Musk gave them an ultimatum to work 80 hour weeks you'll be fired, he might be on the hook for UE. Quitting over changes in work conditions or responsibilities can be covered. But you raise a hilarious point that there are probably quite a few "quiet quitters" who are just planning to half ass it until Musks fires them, so they won't have to go through some UE appeal process. That's probably the smarter way to play this. But these people make almost $300K a year on average and probably don't care much about UE... it's capped. It's not like they are going to get $20,000 UE checks...
The smart thing to do if you are an employee is to take the 3 months and run. Half assing it sounds appealing but it gets old being in a place where you aren’t happy. I’d really like to know the breakdown of people who need to stay because of the Visa restrictions. They’re not all back benchers but generally they’re second team. edit to add you can get UE even if you get a severance package but if you are a Twitter employee in FL the most you are getting is 1000/month. Chump change.
No they don’t do that, at least not on a large scale. I’ve seen numerous layoffs and been a part of a couple. Rarely do I see companies bait employees to quit. The problem with that is the most employable- best will quit first. I have seen individual instances where a company tries to get a poor performing or disgruntled employee to quit, but those are one offs.
How to say you don’t know what you are talking about without saying you don't know what you are talking about..They are getting 3 months severance pay when they quit. Much more than UE would cost twitter

I don’t know about that. The SEC has issues with him. Various other federal agencies well. But he’s doing a great job of shuttering Twitter. I don’t think I could do it as quickly.
I disagree employers bait employees of an entire business to quit all the time. That’s not planning how many will leave, who will remaining and from what depts, etc. A key item not mentioned in those quiting, it’s not always the bad employees who leave and good employees stay. If morale is crushed, which it sounds the case at twitter, top performing employees have a better chance finding employment elsewhere. It’s a cool sound bite but just because Elon says twitter will have only top employees remaining doesn’t make it reality. meta is laying off 11000 employees. But that’s 13% of their total staff. Not 50%. and counting….
