Elon is clueless and in over his head. Of the $5B in revenue Twitter made last year, 90% of it was from advertisers. Begging them to stay is not a good look and they are going to abandon the platform anyway. He has zero clue of how much constant upkeep the computer-based code of the actual app and data is. How big of a burden it is to keep a huge platform like that going at the basement where everything is held together. The underpinnings of it are massive and need engineers to constantly plug holes, squash bugs, and fix code to keep the app running smoothly. If you fire all of those people, which he did, the app will start to degrade and show problems in the app experience. Posts won't show, links will stop working, people won't be able to open the app consistently, etc. It'll all turn into a buggy mess that no one will want to use. He is now begging them to come back because cracks show up in app code daily. You let them go too long and they become canyons.
Gotta love how he’s complaining about issues of his own creation. He might as well have set )44B on fire. The thing is that while it’s fun to mock him, he’s screwing up a lot of the lives of people who used to work there.
Yeah, per Twitter, there's no verification: Accounts that receive the blue checkmark as part of a Twitter Blue subscription will not undergo review to confirm that they meet the active, notable and authentic criteria that was used in the previous process. I'd expect the lawsuits to start rolling in. Calling these accounts verified, while using the same blue check mark that the company has used for years to indicate authenticity, when in fact there is zero verification, is pretty plainly facilitating impersonation/defamation. Particularly so when Twitter begins dropping the check mark from the genuine accounts for non-payment. They'll either need to include a conspicuous disclaimer that verified status no longer means an account is authentic, switch from the check mark to some other badge that consumers don't associate with authenticity, or begin actually authenticating all subscribers (which they definitely won't do, given the required manpower and cost of such a project).
Elon thinking that people would act in good faith and not abuse this makes me wonder if he’s ever been on the internet.
Musk's problem cleaning out twitter was the same as Trump's problem cleaning out the DC swamp. There are just far too many rats for one person to take on. They both underestimated the task. It's like one guy trying to eliminate the feral hogs in the USA. Never gonna happen.
He paid $44 Billion for a company last Friday, and now says it's on the verge on bankruptcy. I like your comparison to Trump, but even Trump's businesses don't fail that quickly. FWIW, I don't think twitter is going to fail, and Musk is just being a drama queen. Or maybe he wants to pull a Trump and go through bankruptcy to clear out old debt ...
Out of the blue Trump is brought up and of course trump is a victim. this is a great example why Dear Leader will get the nom.
