We've entered the Idiocracy Era about 250 years earlier than predicted.

Um... When I think of real men.. Also. Apparently no one told him the pocket logo being on your back means your shirt is on backwards.

Is it weird to offer to impregnate someone against their will? Wonder what Travis would call it

Brazilian Supreme Court to Impose $1 Million a Day Fine to X as it Goes Back Online Despite Ban (msn.com)

The Brazilian Supreme Court is set to impose a fine of $1 million a day on two of Elon Musk's companies, X and Starlink, after the former partially went back online on Wednesday despite being banned in the country.

The social media platform became available on Wednesday after it switched third-party cloud providers, allowing users to go online without a VPN, something the country's high court also prohibited.

While X said the move was inadvertent, some officials told the Financial Times that they believe it to be a technical maneuver to circumvent the ban. "While we expect the platform to be inaccessible again in Brazil soon, we continue efforts to work with the Brazilian government to return very soon for the people of Brazil," the company said in a statement.

Brazil's communications regulator Anatel also said the move was deliberate, and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has spearheaded efforts to crack down on the platform, issued a summons notice to the company and demanded it suspends its activities again.

Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites wreak havoc in Earth’s orbit, blocking deep space observations, scientists say (msn.com)

But when the astronomers went to make observations in July, they found that SpaceX’s updated Starlink V2 Mini satellites were causing even more interference. SpaceX has launched even more satellites since then. “Starlink [was] emitting over 30 times more emissions, and now not just a few, all of [the satellites]. Frankly, we were shocked,” Dempsey said. “The brightness in this particular frequency band of these new satellites, compared to what we’re looking at [is] about 10 million times brighter. The equivalent would be you’re trying to look at that beautiful, faintest star you can see with your eye on a dark night. And then, the full moon rises next to it.

The worst part, Dempsey said, is that the problem is only growing. “They’re launching 40 of these ‘full moons’ every week. Right now, there’s about 6,000 Starlink satellites up there but there’s an intended 100,000 [total future satellites],” she said. “So imagine 100,000 full moons up there. Then we can really say goodbye to any kind of astronomy that we would hope to do from the ground.”

Dempsey and colleagues recently published findings in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics that showed nearly all Starlink satellites they observed were emitting electromagnetic radiation that could interfere with observations.

She said the intent of the astronomy group was not to tell companies to get rid of satellites but rather get them to operate within the rules so that they can continue their scientific observations. “The UN has regulations on the protected bands of frequencies. And, those protected bands are there so that astronomy can do its work. It’s a matter of whether those regulations are supported by anyone who has the power to do so,” Dempsey said.

That's actually a thing. My GF bought me one like this, with print on front and this logo on the back. Is this the defects/misprints are good look?

No, it's totally goofy. I put it on wrong the first (and subsequent times). That's the way the dumb thing is designed. And here's the kicker. It was expensive as . . . . . !

I currently have Elon blocked. I don’t want to see his tweets. So it looks like I wont be using twitter in December as it will be useless. No worries. I only use it her because the embedding is easy.

I blocked him several months ago. He is a creep of the highest order. Also blocked a ton of pubs that his "algorithms" kept pushing onto my feed.

I wish there was a good alternative, as I hate that he is even making a penny off the ads that I see.

One ad that in particular bugs me is supposed to be an NFL tweet with a clip of a great play, but before the clip starts it shows a nasty anti-Kamala ad. Not sure how/why there is an ad tied to those clips but I don't see that with any other tweets.

It's probably because Musk is openly slagging the UK off when he can and frankly we're all a bit bored of him. Interesting that we recently appointed a left of centre Government - one might put two and two together...
Part of it was that he promoted the tweets of a far right lunatic (who has been repeatedly jailed for his misconduct and is about as popular as open handed sneezing over here) during the UK 'false-narrative' riots in August

This week he was caught in a full on paddy as the UK Government snubbed inviting him to some tech conference - almost certainly in response (it wasn't because of freedom of speech as he claims, but because he continues to behave like a bit of a keyboard womble). So he decided to go in on the UK with some flatly obvious lies about pedophiles. Again I might add - he loves to project that one, curiously.

    upload_2024-9-29_15-3-21.png

He certainly seems happy to dish his version of 'freedom of speech' out without understanding that there may be some consequences to his actions.

The death of twitter can't come soon enough for me. Twitters terms of service indicate they recognise you can't just say anything but he seems to be unimpuned. It's almost like he bought twitter just so he could say whatever he wanted. Yet, I suspect if there was a mass mobilisation of lies and obvious falsehoods aimed directly about him, he'd immediately seek to counter them. Genuinely, I taught 7 year olds with a better perception of the narcissist's dilemma...

I don't care that he's left, right, up, down, whatever. I just dislike that he's about as useful for moving the maturity of public discourse forward as boobies on a fish.
