Antoine Davis, one of the most prolific scorers in the history of college basketball is entering the portal-after finishing his 4th season at Detroit Mercy. Davis averaged 23.9 and 4.4 assists this year, while shooting 37.9% from deep. Davis is a rare breed, a volume shooter with a a very good true shooting percentage. He is currently the 22nd leading scorer in NCAA History. Davis has averaged 24.6 pts a game over the last four years. If somehow he were to maintain his annual scoring clip, he'd finish 2nd in NCAA history all time, trailing only Pistol Pete Maravich. I know he's a long shot, but he's got some southern roots-he's gotta be taking a good long hard look at the SEC.
Wow those are just some absurd numbers considering his shooting percentage’s. Coaches son too so he isn’t a sleeper who might not be ready for P5 basketball, he went mid-major to play for his dad. 4 years of 25 ppg on a 40/36/89 shooting split is insane
Colin Castleton does a very good job of putting the ball in the basket efficiently. Castleton's True Shooting Percentage was 58.3% this year, in route to scoring just over 16/game. Antoine Davis had a True Shooting # of of 56.7%, and he averaged almost 24/game. The differences are obviously caliber of competition, as well as position. Castleton's shooting metrics were very solid for an SEC big. Conversely, Davis's numbers are very good for a guard, who is a gunslinger. Davis didn't have a whole lot of help out there this past season. Detroit Mercy finished 6th out of 12 int he Horizon League, with an in conference record of 12-7. So even though Castleton faced a much higher level of competition, Davis managed to post a similar True Shooting %, while shooting over 20 shots a game, and being the compete focus of every scout he faced. Based on similar players I've seen make the transition from conferences like the Horizon League to Power 5, Davis looks like he'll be good for 14-16 points a game at the Power 5 Level. I expect his shooting numbers will drop a litte bit, but still qualify as good.
Here’s my Glover post of the day. I would take Glover straight up over Davis. Their scoring stats are about the same on a per-40 minute basis. Glover’s assists and turnovers stats are better. Glover played against a tougher schedule and his team did better.
It's not quite like your man crush for Mike White. The primary difference is that your guy stunk, while my guy is not only really good, but he would have been the most exciting player to play for the Gators since Jason Williams. Glover put up numbers on a per-40 minute basis that were as good as Davis' numbers ths past season, and he lead a team with a tougher schedule to a better season. And, that's before you look at the data that Todd Golden will be utilizing. Factor in data like virtual assists, and it is unlikely that Davis's value compares to Glover's value. Your simply fail to realize the level of sucktitude that Mike White brought to the table. It went way beyond his total and complete misuse of Glover.
Most exciting player for the Gators since Jason Williams may be the worst hyperbole you’ve used yet, genuinely impressive
Obviously, you haven’t seen his highlights. His Samford coach said that Glover’s plays on offense are worth the price of admission alone. Name a more exciting player. I will post a highlight video. Apparently, you haven’t watched the ones that I previously posted.
Hopefully, this video works. These are some scoring highlights for Ques this season. There could be another one for passing. Watch the video and let us know who at UF since JW was more exciting. This is what we missed out on.
Um Chiozza was much more exciting. Scottie to me was very exciting. Here’s the thing, not only are they more exciting but Ques is not near as good as they were.
I’m no Mike White fan and I like Ques. Wish he would have hung around. Think he would have fit well w Golden. Golden seems like the kind of coach that would have developed Ques and taught him to slow down and value the ball more. Ques was also young and needed more time. Thinking Golden could also have trained App to play like a point and not shoot fall away 26 footers while falling out of bounds.
Ques was way better in his first year as a starter than Scottie was prior to Scottie’s senior year. Ques has 2 years left. Barring injuries and the like, he should be great for the next 2 years. As for Chiozza, I probably was his biggest fan on these boards. He was a great player at UF, but he wasn’t as exciting to watch as Ques was at Samford this past season. Just watch the video, and better yet, post a highlight video of Cheese at UF for one of his seasons.
What are you talking about? Ques does not need to slow down and value the ball more. He just made First team all-league in the Southern Conference. He didn’t turn the ball over much despite the ball being in his hands so much. If we hadn’t seen him at UF and he was in the portal, we would be drooling over this kid. He was a lousy power forward at UF. I get that.
