True but 1 winning season among a plethora of losing seasons are not entirely an indicator of a program on the rise. We certainly were not a national championship caliber team sorta speak in 2012 when we went 12-2 and could have made it had we not lost to UGA. our defense saved our ass and our abysmal offense that barely scored 21 pts per game. That defense and some luck that year masked over our deficiencies that reared their ugly head the following few seasons. Basically that season was a bit of fools gold. Let's see if Norvell and company can avoid the same fate.
No question Norvell has done well in the portal, and no question UF is doing well in HS recruiting.....BUT, I think UF's portal efforts get overlooked somewhat. I think 1/3 of our starters will be portal kids and several more contributors. Starter at QB, our starting RB, our best WR, couple of OL, 1-2 DT, safety, a LB or two,
Can someone let me know what great team FSU beat last year (and obviously we dont fall into the great category). Last I checked LSU was awful in the beginning of the year with the new dance master coach. They were well on their way to embarassing FSU pretty bad until their punt returner coughed up 2 punts inside his own 10 and then if I remember a couple more turnovers late brought the Noles back. Other than that they beat a bunch of bottom dweller ACC teams....if anyone wants to award them a great season with that schedule then go ahead and award UCF another national championship with their one loss season. They were very average but did just enough to skate by against a bunch of pitiful teams.
It's OK. Go ahead and throw stones at fsu. Don't hold back. They are our bitter rival. They deserve it (just by the mere fact that they are fsu). In fact, forget the stones... roll boulders.
Yada, yada, yada over FSU. It's hell right now for those of us who see the poodles as our biggest rival. I haven't taken the time to look up Elijah Moore. Were we in on him and is he worth 2 pages here because he committed to the nolies? The way I see it, it takes both high school recruiting and the transfer portal to be successful. Bottom line, I won't be happy until UF returns back to being an elite football program as evidenced by on the field results. JMHO, UF needs to stack another class or two including the transfer portal like 23 and 24 to get to where we all want to be whether you see the nolies or the poodles as our top rival. I look at it as 1A and 1B, but UGALY is 1A.
Agreed with all of this. Don't even need to CONCERN ourselves with what others do on the trail, as long as we plug holes with recruiting and then development, we're going to be fine. Bring in 24 HS kids a cycle and eventually hit on 80% of them, because we know not all kids are going to pan out, we WILL be fine
UF didn’t pursue hard and hadn’t heard his name in weeks if not months in relation to UF. So no, he is not worth 2 posts let alone 2 pages on this site.
For some of us who aren't 100, fsu is still a bitter rival. No doubt Georgia is our best-performing rival now. The reason I hate fsu even more than Georgia is that we have to listen to their smug preppie fans all year when we lose to them because they live amongst us. That said, yes, Georgia fans are the most obnoxious at this moment in time.
Maybe for you but I was in highschool during the early 90s. The years typically hinged on how that game went and Georgia was an afterthought.
The reaso spurrier dropped 50 on them goes deeper than fsu. I’m not that old either but I understand why Georgia is hated more by the older generation than how we feel about fsu. I went to my first cocktail party when Wes Chandler was playing and from what I remember, tge rivalry was more heated than anything today.
Oh I get it. And with their newfound success they have become insufferable. It is not a good natured rivalry. But when spurrier was here they were not even a threat to us. Spurrier owned them thankfully.
LSU has replaced Tennessee for me. What the LSU administration, King Alexander Prez and Joe Aleva AD, did in 2016 is/was unforgivable.
