I would expect the same if Republican majorities tried to impeach Biden multiple times to sabotage his presidency, then Biden took drastic measures to dissolve congress and ended up getting detained by his political opponents who had taken power without charging him with any crime.

I don’t think it’s funny at all that one of our two political parties has essentially morphed into a sociopathic insanity cult.

Fringes certainly have. Sorta like shooting up a gop softball game.

Regardless, I dont find the stuff funny, yet politics seems to enable some

There is a difference. To the best of my knowledge there haven't been any Democratic politicians suggesting that there has been massive voter fraud and that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to ensure that armed citizens have the alternative of fighting a repressive government. On the other hand, there have been a number of Republican politicians promoting that narrative.

The difference is that the fringe of the GOP controls the GOP. It's not even really the fringe any more.

I think that is just a Trump effect. (Hope so anyway). And this is temporary. You are already seeing movement away from these types.

But my point was just that the fringe is nutty and dangerous... On both sides.

Who cares what the reason is? Shooting at innocent people is nutty. Its whats wrong with our country and it isnt a market that one side has cornered.

Poll out yesterday that showed Trump with a 12 point lead in the Republican primary vote. So if they are living away, it’s not happening quickly.

Meanwhile, in reality, far from movement away from these types, MTG and Paul Gosar were just handed spots on the Oversight committee, one of the most important committees in the House (MTG actually received a second major committee assignment with Homeland Security as well), after having lost their committee assignments previously for threatening violence against Democratic politicians (MTG against Pelosi and Gosar against AOC). Later, both went to speak at White Nationalist events. But they are people that the new Republican House majority decided to not just accept but also to expand their influence.

The difference is that while no act of potentially lethal violence against politicians can ever be justified, there is only one political party promoting a narrative that nut cakes can use to rationalize acts of violence.

Well the trump effect is very real and still very present. There is no democrat equivalent to the trump effect playing out on a national stage daily in front of our eyes.

Polls are all over the place. Are you referring to YouGov polling? Because it changes daily and yesterday it had this:
    Screenshot_20230119-113711-771.png
And note that head to head vs Biden, Trump performs much worse than DeSantis, so the gop will have to take note of this:
    Screenshot_20230119-113749-911.png
None of that speaks to an increasing grip by Trump.

Trump trounces DeSantis in potential GOP primary match-up, new poll finds
And yes it’s one poll, yes this can change, but even if it’s off by a few points, they are hardly moving away from him at any great rate of speed.

Exactly. Any notion that the right wing ‘fringe’ is losing it’s grip is fantasy. We all watched the speaker spectacle. And the GOP is rewarding them for it.

12% is about average if you look at the other polls in RCP. 5% lead for "Cygnal" a partisan pollster is the low point. The other two nonpartisan polls have it Trump +23% and Trump +15%.

As they prepare to hold our economy hostage on the debt limit issue, pitching it falsely as pertaining to future spending. It doesn't. It is about paying bills that have already been run up.

    You cant be serious?
When It Comes to Political Violence, Hold Democrats to Their Own Standard

Waters. Schumer, etc have had their share of dog whistles that nut jobs have latched on to. (Attempts on Kavanaugh, calls to "get more confrontational” 8n the middle of riots etc)

Both side justify these code words when no one ever should
