Although I rated the post "funny" there are a lot of Americans maybe even some who post to this board who think TikTok and YouTube videos are reliable news sources.

That exact claim has been made in multiple states and debunked.
PolitiFact - Claim about schools providing litter boxes for students debunked in several states

Obviously, I can't speak to what happened at your son's friend's school. But if that really happened, I'm pretty sure it would have been a big deal. Newspapers, TV news, superintendent making a statement.
Did any of that happen in your town, or is this just based on what a friend of your son's said?

Not sure how people fall for that. It is not true anywhere. Someone’s lying.

I'm willing to bet this is something similar to how Congress overall has a very low approval rating but most voters have a positive view of their congressman or congresswoman.

Not wasting more time on it. Several articles online about kids acting like cats, dressing with paws, tails, etc., meowing/hissing at others. Obviously no pictures of other kids/the situation because I wasn't there & even if I saw it in front of me I'd just chalk it up to not my business. The purpose of posting about it was in response to River's mentioning of the homework on furries not being likely because it wasn't a thing. That's it.

Gosh, it's as if you are saying teachers are just people like everyone else.

Sounds like the old kids game telephone writ large. My best guess here is that the kid's friend is making crap up. I honestly don't care enough to look further.

Maybe they saw the parade where women pranced down the street with pink Ps on their heads and figured well,,,,,,,,, there was that?

It only takes one instance like that to make some people STDH and wonder what’s next.

And NO, I don’t believe it.

I can guarantee that there are teachers trying to turn kids into cats. I have first hand experience in this at my son’s school in Lexington, KY. I’ve been fighting it for years trying to keep him a gator.

I think it would be wonderful if parents did their jobs by raising their children, and most parents do, but there’s always that one group that wants to drop off their 5 year old, and pick up a healthy, emotionally secure, college ready 18 year old with zero effort on their part. Then there’s this other group of helicopter parents who stay perched like a buzzard ready to swoop in, that are constantly in the teacher’s and school’s face yelling and demanding special treatment.

The cat stuff appears to be a political winner with the base, the GOP keeps running with it.

“Incredibly frustrating”: Colorado schools reject Ganahl’s claims that students identify as cats

No, several large Colorado school districts said Tuesday, they are not having issues with students identifying as cats or other animals, as Republican gubernatorial candidate Heidi Ganahl has repeatedly claimed is happening in schools across the state.

Ganahl, a University of Colorado regent running to unseat Gov. Jared Polis next month, said in a radio interview last week that “schools are tolerating” students “identifying as cats.” She then doubled down on that position in subsequent interviews over the past several days: She told Fox31 that she’d received more than 100 messages from parents “across Colorado” talking about the issue in their school.

Ganahl reiterated her concern in a statement to the Denver Post on Tuesday, casting students dressing up like cats as a distraction when they should be learning.
