Tough to argue that now, 3rd NC in less than 2 decades....and the best part is that the culture that Golden & Co built seems sustainable. Now let's go ahead and retain everyone and fill those few vacant spots with hardworking studs that want to be Gators. What an incredible run this was.....beat so many great teams to get here - the last team standing.
Exactly, and that each one in their own way was a great leader - and different kinds of leaders. I think Martin’s impact in the summer training sessions reverberated through the entire team. They ALL became dogs. And that never left them until the final buzzer last night
Unselfish, too. They consistenly fed the hot hand or made plays to exploit the weaknesses of the opponent's defense. Team first from not only the 3 guards, but the entire group. Very rare, but it paid off big time.
The Best part about the win was how gritty and scrappy the Gators were/are! Either team could have won but the Gators wanted it MORE! Looked at that last play over and over and that kid had room to shoot that ball but thought about it for a split second. I Love it!!! It is Great to be a FLORIDA GATOR!!!
yep, I'm convinced that any one of our 3 guards would have pump faked and took the 3 or drove for the 2. There was still 5 seconds left. Clayton in particular seems to keep his heart rate steady and think in the moment, where the rest of us humans would be freaking the hell out
exactly. the entire team was unselfish, you could see how team-first they were all season. So good to see in today's game (and society)
Three experienced guards made the consistency of wins coming. Hopefully we add studs that can score like Walter and Will and play defense like Eligah. 36-4, #1 season ending! Hard to top this!
We need a Martin every summer. Martins don't grow on trees but we should look hard every year. He had the stones to push his new teammates. I'd like to see Haugh and Condon take on the role, pushing each other and everyone else. We have a few more that I think will uphold the work ethic.
I agree. Every team needs a dog like that that holds everyone else accountable, and has that experience and track record to back it up. Yes Haugh will definitely take that role, Condo if/when he comes back. The good thing is that whoever comes in can't say that tough approach didn't work this year.
