Honshu (Japan's main island) seems to be expecting waves up to 16 feet in height after a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck near the west coast. Some damage was noted in coastal cities.

Japan lowers its tsunami warning but still tells people not to go home after a series of earthquakes

Impacts the Sea of Japan and not the Pacific side. So large waves reverberating between Japan and Korea/Russia.

You did. I did not realize there was a pre-existing thread. My error. They have been merged, appropriately.

Poor Japanese people. We should offer them up the state of California to live in. No vaccines and no background checks necessary.

Cold & callous, Rick. I imagine at least three of the men who post here and are married to Japanese women would be offended by your thoughtless, offhand remark.

Offering them a real place to live is NOT chalice. One of my sisters husband is half Japanese, and I am not joking about helping them... was not was it a joke. They deserve a solid piece of land to live on and even though California has Earth quakes too it's nothing compared to what Japan suffers.

Your leftists are impossible to deal with I am though being kind to your hodgepodge of disjointed illogical collage of hypocrisy and conflicting beliefs.

But at least you, lacuna, has the decency to respond with words... even though you totally misread my intent.

Offering the Japanese people a safe place to live in is altruistic.

I don’t know that I’d consider California as a gift.

I came this () close to moving there in 2013. Didn’t. Dodged a bullet.

We have earthquakes in the Carolinas. But you can barely feel them.

A Japan Airlines plane caught fire with 400 passengers on board at Tokyo's Haneda Airport after colliding with an earthquake relief plane on the runway. All passengers were successfully evacuated before the plane incinerated. Check out the video--it lit up like the Hindenburg (not quite as instantaneously). It's a lot of drama for one country in two days.

Of all of the places I've visited, Taiwan was the most active for earthquakes. I worked there after the 1999 major earthquake in Tai Chung, and the aftershocks were fairly strong (5+ on the Richter scale). I visited another time and experienced a 6.6 quake on the 11th floor of a hotel in Kaohsiung at 2:30 a.m.--it went on for at least 30 seconds.

Portions of cities appear to be completely leveled. Must be be fire. Looks like a tornado came through.

Amazing that none of the passengers in the main plane were killed although 5 to 6 were killed in the other plane.
