God save us from Trump droogies wanting to talk about what is or isn't appropriate for a politician to do without any sense of irony.

Steele was a foreigner. His main source was a Russian national, suspected by the FBI of being a Russian Intel asset. And his oppo research ended up in front of the FISC after the FBI failed to verify it with the rest of the IC. That resulted in a FISA warrant against a FP aide of the opposing political campaign. You don't think any of that is inappropriate?

No, there is nothing inappropriate about a US firm hiring a foreigner to do opposition research. As for the FISA warrant stuff, there were a lot of red flags regarding the Trump campaign and Russians, so I don't know how inappropriate it was to include the Steele Dossier in with it. Maybe it shouldn't have been included, I don't know. But the Mueller investigation turned up plenty of very inappropriate contact between the Trump campaign and Russians. There was a lot of smoke there.

So just to be clear, you have no problem with a POTUS Campaign hiring foreign nationals to do oppo research on their opponents? For example, you would be OK if the DeSantis campaign hired an ex-Mossad agent to dig up dirt on Harris or Biden?

BTW, the Clinton Campaign lied about being involved with Fusion GPS and Steele for almost a year before admitting they paid for the Dossier. If there was nothing inappropriate about it, why did they lie when asked about it?

It's not illegal. Are you saying it is? Just a yes or a no is fine.

No. Garland could fire Durham at any time or stop this case. He has not.

Some of the Steele report was verified and much of it was not. He had the details of Page’s meetings in Russia wrong.

Pretty sad when fellow Americans call each other "droogies" for just wanting to get the facts in regard to possible espionage.

And another question and this is not a 'whataboutism' post. This is to see what else you deem inappropriate in addition to a POTUS Campaign hiring foreign nationals to do oppo research on their opponents. As we know, Trump tried to get Ukraine to announce an investigation into Hunter Biden and held up US aid to Ukraine while doing it. Appropriate or inappropriate?

The facts are out there. What is being done now is the typical Fox type political spin on what it was.

The answer is No as long as a service is paid for. If the service is not paid for, then it is viewed as an in kind contribution, then it is illegal. Under the same idea, if the Trump Campaign had hired a legal firm to hire a private contractor to commission the Russian woman to provide a research paper on what she was offering Don Jr, that would also have been legal. An example of the Trump Campaign's incompetence.

The more important part of this is how it ended up in front of the FISC. That is what Durham is investigating.

Except FOXN, now owned by liberals, isn't conducting the investigation into the "investigation". And what facts are out there? The investigation is still ongoing but more and more illegalities are surfacing on the Clinton side. I guess FoxNews and the NY Post should be ignoring this?

Zero new illegalities are being found. The Murdoch media will keep hyping it because otherwise they might have to cover Trump's crimes which are actual news.

The nothingburger of this latest kerfuffle will make the nothingburger of Benghazi seem tame by comparison.

    Completely inappropriate.

In case, you were not aware, my position is that the Trump Campaign was too incompetent to collude with Russia without the US or NATO Intel Communities finding out about it. The idea that only Steele was aware of such a conspiracy and that the US and NATO Intel Communities completely missed it should have been big flashing warning signs that the Dossier was BS.

Except the Trump campaign didn't hire a private contractor to commission the Russian woman to provide a research paper on what she was offering Don Jr. Dirt was offered and they eagerly accepted a meeting to see what she had.

So you would have been fine with it as long as the Trump Campaign followed the Clinton Campaign's model?

Good luck with ever seeing the Clintons arrested. Fox News has been promising that since their inception and despite 2 GOP led DOJs it ain't happened and won't happen.

Impeachable in fact. As for Trump's incompetence, they tried to collude with Russia and we did find out about it. People even got sent to jail.
