Drop FSU; Add All Cupcakes

We need toughness in the program, desperately. Take on the best. No cupcakes.

I totally agree with that....but don't forget the goal is to work smart, not hard.

 

We used to play 3 cupcakes a year, and FSU. But then the CFP started and everyone wanted to strengthen the schedule, so we started adding all of these tough OOC games. Now we get UM, UCF, and FSU all in the same year. Its the same reason we played Utah. Now we want to go back to the easier schedule lol.

What is really going to hurt us is the divisions being dropped. It will be strange to not play SC, MIZZ, and VANDY next year. Really bad timing to draw a tough SEC slate, and combine it with a rough OOC schedule.

 

If we switched schedules with Tennessee this past season, we probably have their record. We play FSU, UM schedules sitting at 8-9 wins, Michigan schedule maybe 10 wins. Admin scheduled these games thinking we are Florida of the 90s/early 2000s. Admin didn't do the team any favors. "We want to play the best" coming from some fans here are the same ones that complain about the 5-7 record, but would be ecstatic if we were 10-2 playing nobodies. The narrative would be much different with an extra cupcake this year and two next year. Wish the conference would go to 9-10 games and everyone just play two warmup cupcakes, all things would be even.

 

I can't agree. We need wins and early season warm-up games for young players. New players will follow wins. SEC play gives us plenty of opportunities for toughness.

 

Then we are on the same page, my brother. We are both Gators, til the day we die, always and forever. I owe UF for everything I have. UF means more to me than anything besides my family. My ashes are to be scattered at UF and Florida Field and on my beloved 90 rows of bleachers that I still have run for 40plus years.

Our program has become too weak and is need of change. We all want it to happen. My way is to bunker down, call out anyone who is not a Gator, challenge them, and destroy them. Us against the world. You ain't Gator, then you Gatorbait, baby. My man Lawrence Wright.

 

Not playing SC and Mizzou does not seem strange to me. When I was at UF, they weren't in the SEC.

But face it: college football is officially fubar. Sigh

Hard disagree, give me great matchups every week. If we actually pull out a 9-3 type year next year, people gonna be juiced, the board will be littered with We Back threads rather than malaise we have now.

That is quite the absolute statement. Didn't we go to the SEC championship in a season where we only played the SEC recently? Guess the SEC isn't very good...

 

Noticed Georgia Tech soundly beat UCF. UCF is not doing well since joining Big 12. Ended year 6-7. Likely some UCF fans and alum looking to fire HC. Wonder if they are pining for Frost’s return.

Doesn't the SEC have a league office and rules the universities go by now?
