Well first let me caveat this statement, I grew up in Greensboro, NC and despise the heels at every sport. from women's field hockey to hoops.

but what a waste for Drake Maye to be at UNC -- imagine him at a top 5 football school.
    Dude would win the Heisman
Dude would win a few Natty's.
    Dude can play.

Give him a legit offensive line, and he sees the game very well for his age.
Very poised, great arm and seems to have a nack for scrambling for a first down.

He'll still end up a first round pick, but this kid could have become one of the greatest ever at the college game at a competitor.

heels went 9-5 with him at the helm is disturbing. Same as last year with Sam Howell, the pour man's rex grossman.

Mac Brown 2.0 is a bust in the softest league in football. Gators the past 10 years would compete for titles in that league

I'd think we would struggle just the same, maybe an extra 5-7 wins this decade but that is it. It's not like we have consistently dominated the mediocre to cellar dweller SEC teams in the past decade either.

Maye is loyal to the school he wanted to go to. He is the type of player so many here wish FL had more of on the team.

I disagree that we would do much in the ACC . I just don’t see it

Maye is what a college athlete should be. He followed his heart. Talent will always rise above and find a way. I went to school with his dad. Amazing how that family has bled Carolina Blue. Funny to hear him called the "runt of the litter." Play the game and live out your dreams.

These kids who are following the NIL money are not who you build your program around. Armies aren't built with mercenaries.

He didn’t follow his heart, if he didn’t go there he would have been shunned by his family. He was originally committed to Saban and Bama. Maye has a long line of family that we’re Tar Heels. In regards to his talent he is an absolute stud! He is the next Josh Allen. Kid is athletic and can absolutely toss it around with the best of them!

Their defense was worse than ours. He was committed to Bama. He is a Tar Heel legacy.

He wouldn't have been shunned. His dad also almost went to Bama. He was promised by then coach Dick Crum that he could play both football and baseball if he signed with the Heels. Bama didn't provide the same assurances. So his dad signed with the Heels. Crum later backtracked after he enrolled. Drake's family would have supported whatever decision he made. There are some good articles out there about his decision.
