So he's on record as being ok with some his rights being stripped in parts of the country. Good to know.

this might be some what off topic, but what is the recent fundamentalist obsession with pedophilia about? There's no evidence that pedophilia occurs today at any greater rate and then it did in the past, in fact it seems to be much improved with the only persistent categories being in-home child abuse. As best I can tell it's just the new Satanic panic/rock music panic

Seeing as how they all want to marry 14 year old girls, I think its just an extension of the anti-gay stuff

What's with the anti-contraception legislation? Abortion, I get, but contraception makes abortions unnecessary, in addition to preventing the transmission of disease. Outlawing contraception is crazy, and aside from devout Catholics, what's the supporting demographic? As far as I know, even evangelicals don't have an issue with it.

Misogynists of all stripes. This stuff is all about controlling women. For these people, knocking up a woman means you get to control them. Women enjoying reproductive and sexual freedom is their nightmare.

It kind of makes it look like the real issue is people enjoying sex rather than anything else.

You correctly point out that very devout Catholics following Humanae Vitae hold that contraception is immoral because it is a sexual act not open to the transmission of life. It’s internally consistent natural law reasoning in the abstract. However, in principled application, it would also mean that masturbation and all forms of sodomy are equally immoral

Wouldnt be surprised if no-fault divorce comes in the crosshairs along with contraception, etc

From reading the seemingly surprised reactions from a lot of garden variety Republicans in this forum and others over the last few weeks, I think a lot of them are genuinely shocked at the suddenly (to them) well developed preexisting agenda to impose social control, ready to be rolled out by Republicans in state legislatures and even at the Federal level.

This stuff has always been out there, easy to find. They have not really hidden it. But it really seems to have escaped notice. I think a lot of garden variety Republicans thought that the decision was just an understandable reaction to unfettered abortion on demand, and didn't see it as part of anything larger. They probably felt like liberal Cassandras were exaggerating. I think they're shocked at what they're seeing.

We'll see if this surprise does anything to stop the agenda. I still think it will be hard for much of it to get passed. But there's a big difference from saying it will be difficult and saying that it is not going to be aggressively pursued with a lot of funding and pre-existing support.

Those people always thought they were in control, similar to center-left liberal hubris. Feckless denial of reality seems to be the common thread with these people.

I'm not aware of an obsession, but the ball is rolling. Pedophilia is being rebranded as "minor attracted persons," and there will be a push to see that recognized as a sexual orientation as equally valid as any other sexual orientation. We are headed for the bottom of the slippery slope.

Probably by comedians as part of their standup routine. By the way Republicans seem to love this "minor attracted" person.

You could have more simply answered @sflagator by pasting this picture. It covers your posted faux grievance just as well, while leaving you open to claim additional made-up ones at a later date.

LOL, show me one group outside
of NAMBLA that is advocating to make "minor attracted persons" a thing. it ain't a thing - no more than my insistence on calling my formerly fat self "horizontally unrestricted" was a thing, anyway.

Where on earth does one get these ideas?
