    Am I to assume by that logic every bit of sperm that is not used to fertilize an egg is a culprit of abortion? How about the many number of swimmers that don't find the egg (after all the egg only needs one) and few even get there. Maybe I got this all wrong but fact is you need both and there are any number of ways to prevent the coupling or make it happen.

    I draw the line at the age of 18. Just think about how much easier raising teenagers would be if you could terminate them.

    A different way of making the same point, and one that has already been proven out many times, is that women who miscarries may be subject to prosecution by an overly zealous local prosecutor.

    EVERYTHING IS LIFE.

    There is literally nothing on this planet that isn’t life, animate or not.

    That includes sperm and an egg.

    If that is the standard, than masterbation is murder, and having it just go back to the states isn’t going to satisfy the radical right.

    There are no absolutes here. We do not know if abortion is “wrong” in an absolute sense, regardless of when you believe life starts. Societies create rules for themselves, govern themselves by these rules, which is the reason ending a life has multiple terms used for it based on the context (murder, man-slaughter, self-defense, capital punishment, abortion, killing in war, etc).

    None of those would be legal if the question is simply “when does life begin?”.

    Interesting argument. Indeed we do not perform organ transplants without consent, and fetal needs share some of these elements. I hadn’t considered this analogy before. Though I wonder if this analogy using responsible parties is too far removed to be fully informative?

    What about this crazy one: Person A invites person B to person A’s remote cabin the desert. Upon arrival, person B comes to learn that there isn’t enough water in the house for both people to live. Is person A under any obligation to share his water?

    It would seem to me a judge would probably consider 1) if person A informed B about the water issue in advance, and 2) what is the normal custom in that society - ie are people used to knowing this can be a problem and therefore usually bring their own water everywhere?

    However, these two questions can’t be well translated to our case, as our “person B” (the fetus) didn’t exist until they were summoned to the cabin (the uterus). That said, I do think it can be argued that the fetus was indeed summoned to uterus by the mother. If we decide that the fetus is a “life”, I think this fact probably needs to be considered in our judgement.

    Human life or sentient life to be precise.

    Many of the so called animal rights activists are also pro abortion (specifically later term). Life is full of contradictions

    As mentioned in the other thread, I used married couples for a conservative number to demonstrate just how quickly 1 billion instances of intercourses can happen in a country of 350 million plus figure. You know that though, you’re just being obnoxiously obtuse.

    No, you were clearly talking about “choice”...

    Under the Catholic natural law tradition which sets forth many of the philosophical underpinnings for the pro-life movement, masturbation is indeed immoral as a procreative act not open to the transmission of life

    No different from other OSHA requirements that businesses provide a safe working environment for their employees, the vaccine mandate required companies keep record of and require either vaccination or qualified exemption from vaccination for COVID-19. Qualified exemptions included medical reasons as ascribed by a doctor, or religious reasons consistent with observed religious practices.

    This has now been explained for at least the second time in this thread. If you continue to use vaccine mandates as an argument against bodily automony, then it's because you refuse to accept the facts in favor of intellectual dishonesty.

    Chief Justice Roberts orders Marshal of the Court to investigate leaked draft opinion on abortion
    "This was a singular and egregious breach of that trust that is an affront to the Court and the community of public servants who work here," Roberts said in a statement. "I have directed the Marshal of the Court to launch an investigation into the source of the leak."
    We will have to wait and see where this will go. Finding the leak is one thing, What to do about it is another.

    thoughts on this being done on purpose to galvinize public opinion against overturning and to put pressure on the justices?alsoin control when next justice might be confirmed? what about rallying the democratic voters so to speak ahead of mid-term elections, pointing out what a conservative court is doing, do they want a conservative/republican congress

    Btw I'm making this ridiculous argument to show how far some go and how ridiculous it is to call birth control abortion. At no point do I buy that argument but that's the slope now. That's the ridiculous aspect of some of the anti abortion/anti contraceptives.

    Abortion with a restriction of 20-21 weeks is more than fine. Not viable but 5 months to make up your mind/figure things out. Leave contraceptives alone. Allow women to get their tubes tied.
